After I put all the above together I found out it was the Saturday game so I decided to leave it but in the Sunday game they won 6-1.

Bowman’s bat is something special at the moment. :o
Stewart’s start wasn’t that good I think, he did allow a lot of flyball outs. Maybe NHFishercatsfan can tell us how hard the balls he allowed in play were hit. But even then, that’s more a question of good batting than good pitching really.
The thing with Stewart
Is he is night and day in home and away games. Garbage at home, and pretty good on the road. I only go to home games for the most part so my reviews of him are not so good.

Adam Loewen
Not sure if this has been flagged already, but just came across a Vancouver Province article on Adam Loewen from 10 days ago.
One bit that’s mentioned which has me worried a bit is that he’s only signed through this year. While you see his name among lists of Jays prospects, his situation is quite different in that we only have short-term control over him. I wonder if we should try extend his contract, before it runs out and other teams can come calling.
I seem to remember Baltimore being caught offguard when he signed with us as they had hopes to resign him – I’d hate to see something similar happen to us after we’ve invested a few years in him and it’s starting to yield good results.
yeah
We’ve mentioned this a bit with the general thought being that he gets promoted to Vegas soon to see if he is worth signing to a major league deal because someone will offer him one this offseason if the Jays don’t.

Well
He is a free agent after this season. I don’t think they could without competing with other teams for him.

it’s been reported in a few places (professionally) that if the Jays add Loewen to the 40 man roster they keep him under the same circumstances as any other prospect.
the question is how many options have been used since Loewen signed a major league deal with the O’s out of the draft.
but no, they don’t have to expose him to free agency this winter unless they choose to.
Haven’t found any new articles yet, but some comments on other forums saying the same thing. Can someone explain how this works? Since Loewen was released by the Orioles, he presumably became a minor league free agent, no? So if the Jays only signed him for a two-year contract, why would he not become a free agent again? He’s been playing professional ball going back to 2003, so I’d have thought he’d be free when his contract’s up. Not disputing anything, just trying to understand it, if someone can explain the nuts and bolts of this.
No idea man. Baseball rules eligiblity and contracts are almost a degree unto themselves.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
Found confirmation that if the Jays promote Loewen to the 40-man roster this year they have control of him for four more years, otherwise he’s a minor-league free agent again. I guess the rationale is that it’s put up or shut up – either promote him to the 40-man or lose him, but the quid pro quo to getting added to the 40-man is that rights in turn kick in for the Jays.
I dont know why we dont call up one of the older guys that are raking in AAA
especially for interleague play where they can actually contribute.
Having Jeremy Reed and Mike McCoy on the bench isnt that fun.
Onions Baby Onions
Travis D'Arnaud and prospects
Bob Elliott’s got a new column where he talks about a bunch of players in our system, including Travis D’Arnaud who calls the “real deal”.
The catching angle is gonna be something to watch in the future
with guys like Wieters, Carlos Santana, Jesus Montero, Posey, Thole and our very own Travis.
HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THEM, I PRESS DOWN MAH GUNS!
well he's blocked at 1st and 3rd
He might have to DH for a while then
HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THEM, I PRESS DOWN MAH GUNS!
Agreed.
Austin Romine is much better defensively and can handle the bat pretty well too. He has a better future as a catcher.

Bowman was put on wavers
And no one claimed him when the Jays took him off the 40 man roster. Once that happened he started doing much better.
I remember the first week or two that he was in NH, the fans thought he stunk. He hit into 3 or 4 double plays in one game and was striking out a lot. He has really turned it around.
