Brandon Morrow Named Jay Player of the Month
Here is the press release:
BRANDON MORROW NAMED HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH
TORONTO BLUE JAYS RHP BRANDON MORROW was voted as the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for June by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA. Honda, the official car of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charity of Brandon Morrow’s choosing.
MORROW, 25 earned the honours over runner up John Buck, while LHP Ricky Romero also received significant votes. The right-hander started five games in June, recording a 1-2 record with a stellar 1.91 ERA, while holding opponents to a .218 average. The native of Santa Rosa, California posted quality starts in all five outings and allowed one run or less in three, highlighted by a 5-0 win over the Cardinals on June 24, where he tossed a career high eight shutout innings.
BUCK, 29 finished second in the voting, after posting a .271 average with five home runs and 14 RBI in 21 June contests. The right-handed hitter leads all catchers in the Majors with 13 home runs and 40 RBI on the season.
Tom Back: Morrow is deserving. Bautista won last month. I hope there isn't a jinx that goes along with the award.

how can we have a player of the month?
our team was absolute crap this month. this is probably not intended, but i’m getting the feeling from reading this saying that the jays did well.
They give out a player of month award every month regardless of how the team did. Other then saying
This team sucked but this guy was pretty good
What else do you expect the official press release to sound like? Aside from all of that Morrow’s starts throughout the month were fantastic and he is well deserving of the honour.
