6 RBI for Snider eh?
I suppose thats ok
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
For a Thursday....
I’d love to hear an explanation from AA about why he wasn’t just activated from rehab.
snider not being activated
he has not been activated because he is not eligible to be activated for 10 days since being optioned down…. he is not on rehab assignment, he has been optioned down…. look for him to be called up after the 10 days or after Bautista (if) gets traded or after trade deadline….
Including
a rare 2-RBI infield single.
The runner on 2nd was Mastroianni and he is so fast that he just rounded 3rd base assuming the throw would end the inning but it was in the dirt and bounced around so he scored as well.

definitely a possibility
only question is how much he’ll hit in the majors. He’s hitting for more power this season (though he still has a very low ISO), but keep in mind he’s 24 and is repeating AA. I’m a big fan of his, though.
If he doesn’t make it as an everyday mlb hitter, he’s still got great value as a defense-first fourth outfielder and speed option off the bench

Damn straight
He’s been unfairly saddled with the “4th outfielder” moniker, but I’ll go to my grave insisting that he would make a better lead-off guy than Fred Lewis, at this very moment. I wonder if they’ll ever give him a chance/long look…perhaps in spring training.
He draws walks, he steals bags efficiently (and at a respectable volume)…he’s a hard-nosed grinder who could be a real catalyst for the Jays.
Defending Fred Lewis
I’d be careful about insisting that a AA player is at this very moment better than a major leaguer who has already accumulated 1.4 WAR so far this season.
Yes, Fred Lewis does not draw walks nor steal bases. What he does do is hit for a decent average with pretty good power. Not HR power, but doubles power. He’s also got enough speed to grab extra bases regularly. Think of him as a poor man’s Devon White with a touch of fielding ADD.
Ease up there
I’m one of the most pro-Mastroianni guys out there but hell fred lewis is a good lead off guy. Prior to Lewis when there were no leadoff guys on the team, Mastroianni absolutely would’ve been the best lead off guy we had.
i feel lied to lol
I checked the box after the GLC game and it said Sanchez went 7.1 with 10 Ks
i was suprised to see him go so long but really happy with the K’s.. error on their part
Ahah
I did the exact same thing.

This is what I think about the option of Moonraker
HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THEM, I PRESS DOWN MAH GUNS!
Best thing that can happen in the second half.
Would be Snider going on an absolute rampage when he comes up..I think that could be the start of the crowds coming back.
. . .
And dumping Overbay for Wallace, who is also hitting very well at AAA. Plus Arencibia, good lord I’m repetitive, but I just don’t understand what we’re waiting for? Trade these bums for ANYTHING and let’s get cookin’!
Wallace is hitting .250 against righties, and has a horrible K/BB ratio.
im in no rush to get him up here.
Onions Baby Onions
I stumbled upon this stat for Wallace
Bases Empty, .333
Runners On, .257
Scoring Position, .231
Remind you of anyone? *cough*vernonwells*cough*.
Onions Baby Onions
You know the more I think about those stats I begin to think there may be some sort of statistical fallacy.
Given the nature of baseball and how 7+ times out of 10 people are failing at getting a hit it stands to reason that a person majority of at-bats come with the bases empty, then a lesser amount comes with runners on and an even lesser amount with runners on in scoring position.
Given a smaller size of the latter two situations the numbers could be prone to more wild swings then a person’s average with the bases empty. And as such you would be more likely to see lower or higher amounts then the base derived from the Bases empty…..
Does this make any sense? Or am I messing myself up in my head?
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
yeah you make sense Johnny
It is one of those stats that has big swings. But there is the ones that will decide someone isn’t a man if he doesn’t hit each time with runners on. I think everyone picks the 7 at bats they think are important and if a guy doesn’t hit 3 times in those 7, he is nothing. Worrying about what a guy hits with runners in scoring position in 20 at bats in Triple-A is something that, I’m sure, makes Bill James regret he he ever started looking at stats.
first of all, those Wallace numbers mean less than nothing
second of all,
Vernon Wells career OPS: .802
Career OPS with Runners in Scoring Position: 804.
Careeer OPS with the Bases Empty: .795
Career OPS with Runners on: .809
Try again.
Or on second thought, don’t.
