Las Vegas

Talk about getting spanked at home. They lost 21-4 to Portland (AAA team of the Padres). Merkin Valdez started and gave up 12 runs all earned.Zach Jackson and Steven Register didn't fair much better. Roenicke pitched the 8th, gave up 1 hit and k'd 1. Jason Lane, yes, OF Jason Lane pitched the 9th and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits to close out Portlands night. All in all, Vegas pitchers allowed a whopping 34 hits.

What an ugly game to possibly have witnessed if anyone was there.

Do you mean Minor League Ball in Vegas?

Because we have a commentator right on this site that attends all New Hampshire home games.

well I can’t say I blame the people from Vegas. Unless you’re a Jays fan I don’t see why you would go to the 51s. Although you could say that a lot of runs makes for more exciting games? Hmm…

How expensive is a AAA team?

Can Rogers get one and put it closer to T.O.?

by PFHLai on Jul 26, 2010 10:49 PM EDT reply actions

It would be very expensive

Aside from the one-time costs of buying the team and relocating them, they would need to continually pump money into it to keep it afloat because minor league baseball has failed over and over and over again in most of Canada.

Ball.

I wish the Jays AAA team in Vegas could be relocated to

Niagara Falls or Montreal or Ottawa….. I wish….
Not that I want to see another 21-4 massacre.

no chance Canada can support a AAA team

we barely get anyone going to our MLB games.

We have a bit to go to get to the mean, but we are averaging just under 20k.

Buffalo?

Didn’t the Jays have a chance to move their AAA affiliate to Buffalo when they left Syaracuse? I’m pretty sure the Indians moved out of Buffalo the same year. That would have been (and still is) the perfect location and would be nice to see the Jays take advantage of that sometime.

they tried

Buffalo went with the Mets

Phila Phans definitely have some flaws

but over 103% attendance is pretty impressive. I was suprised how low the Yankees were. 88% of capacity. I blame A.J. Burnettwithout him they would have 100 % and have a .750 winning pct..
