So, what would you little maniacs like to do first? - Gm 101 Orioles @ Jays

Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays, Jul 27, 2010 7:07 PM EDT

Another day, another win against the Orioles. We are now a remarkable 10-0 against them this year, And today on the 101st game of the season we go for number 11. These games against the O's gives our guys a great chance to keep streaks going too.

Last night Morrow made a good start in his return to the mound. Tonight Romero gets his chance against the lackluster O's.  Last time out Ricky was saddled with the loss against the Tigers as he went 7 innings giving up 3 runs. He did end up walking 4 and only striking out 3 which got him into a bit of a trouble. He takes on the ace of the staff for Baltimore in Kevin Millwood. Millwood really started the year strong but since then he has seen his ERA and WHIP both climb to above career norms.

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Ricky Romero 7-7 20 20 2 1 0 0 130.1 120 58 51 8 51 116 3.52 1.31

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - Kevin Millwood 2-9 19 19 1 0 0 0 114.0 142 80 74 21 38 86 5.84 1.58

The lineup goes back to the trusty ol number 1 tonight, Buck behind the plate hitting 8th and EE batting 9th everything else remaining the same. That being said our Bullpen should now be fully charged after the double header on Sunday and likely Downs, Camp and Gregg should all be available if the need arises.

As a side note I really hope the weird buzzing I was getting last night on ALL sportsnet channels is gone. I honestly couldn't take it and had to turn off the game. And in the comments Craigincalgary mentioned he had it too so it wasn't just in my head..... well I guess it could have been in both our heads... does that mean I think like Craig? A truely disheartening notion.

Yes it is, you get the international package

Is a little pricey but you can get it on a rolling monthly package. Not really needed as every game is streamed but is an option if you do more than watch the Jays.

by TtD on Jul 27, 2010 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Pricey? Matter of perspective I guess.

I’m located in Germany and I’m watching the Jays (and whichever game I feel like watching) via MLB TV, too. And it’s about 14 Euros a month for the basic option. You’d have to pay thrice the amount a month to watch live Bundesliga soccer once a week. So, being able to watch over 150 Jays games a season is quite a good deal, I must say :-)

just a question

if there are runners on first and second, and the batter hits an infield fly ball, can the fielder not catch it on purpose, let it drop, and then throw to third and second for the double play?

please explain

In your mouth

by YunelTheLazyLatino on Jul 27, 2010 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions

If there's a fly ball with men on first and second or bases loaded

and an infielder is camped under a fly ball, the umpire can call the batter-runner out even before the play is made—it’s called the infield fly rule. It’s there to prevent the exact scenario you describe.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

But the runners still have to wait until the ball touches the glove or the ground

before tagging up.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

what if its like a light fly, maybe head high

if the fielder purposefully lets it drop for the douple play, is it illegal?

I'd have to check the rulebook

Not sure if it’s a judgement call whether the fly out is routine.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

It also depends if the batter-runner is making a concerted effort to reach

You can let a popped up bunt drop if the bunter isn’t running it out, apparently.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Apparently it has to be ordinary effort for an infielder

so if it’s hit softly right at you, they can call it.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Also interesting

Doesn’t matter if the player who eventually makes the play is actually an infielder, as long as it would have been routine for an infielder.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions

If there's 2 outs it doesn't apply because there's no double play

which is how you end up with that play in the Mets/Yankees game a while back where A-Rod popped up to second with two outs and two on in the bottom of the ninth down by one, Castillo dropped the ball, and the runs scored because everyone was running on the play.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

Marcum looks like a dude you would want to have a beer with.

I think Vernon would be great to meet.

But he might decide that if you are a blogger, he wouldn’t want to be near you.

has everyone seen Marcum's insider videos

its jokes, in a weird way

I'm not really a blogger

more of a commentator, plus if he isn’t afraid of Cabby how can he be afraid of me?

by IanJ on Jul 27, 2010 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

But he never got his clubhouse monkey

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

by Torgen on Jul 27, 2010 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I’d go so far as to say he would be a candidate on any team other than the Jays

by Bargain D on Jul 27, 2010 9:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Yup.

I don't care how many games we win.

The 2010 Jays are my favourite team to watch in a LONG time.

Who are you...and what have you done with craig?

by Bargain D on Jul 27, 2010 9:36 PM EDT reply actions

We had Arencibia and Jeroloman at the time

although Arencibia has taken a little longer than we hoped.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

when we got him there was a facebook group went up

“we hate Jose Bautista” after he was 0 for 16 or something/

by Tom Dakers on Jul 27, 2010 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Just jumped on here

So don’t know if it was discussed….But let’s NOT trade Bautista. HR’s are fun to watch.

by Rhinos on Jul 27, 2010 9:37 PM EDT reply actions

Man. Bautista is unstoppable.

by Jeremywilhelm on Jul 27, 2010 9:37 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

I’d argue that Bautista might be the best hitter in the game right now.

by Woodman663 on Jul 27, 2010 9:38 PM EDT reply actions

I think thats a little too far fetched…….hes probably top 10 in the AL

You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. It’s just common sense.

Lind maximizing his negative batting value tonight..what a DH.

by Woodman663 on Jul 27, 2010 9:40 PM EDT reply actions

we must have the worst DH in the league this year, after arguably one of the best last year…

by Bargain D on Jul 27, 2010 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions

by far, I think. You don’t even want our catcher to hit like Lind is doing.

by Woodman663 on Jul 27, 2010 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice win.

Bautista and Romero get JoD. Honorable mention for Escobar

From MLB trade rumors

Links for Tuesday, as Jose Bautista becomes the first major leaguer to reach the 30-homer plateau this season…

I think they are stunned too :)
