So, what would you little maniacs like to do first? - Gm 101 Orioles @ Jays
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays, Jul 27, 2010 7:07 PM EDT
Another day, another win against the Orioles. We are now a remarkable 10-0 against them this year, And today on the 101st game of the season we go for number 11. These games against the O's gives our guys a great chance to keep streaks going too.
Last night Morrow made a good start in his return to the mound. Tonight Romero gets his chance against the lackluster O's. Last time out Ricky was saddled with the loss against the Tigers as he went 7 innings giving up 3 runs. He did end up walking 4 and only striking out 3 which got him into a bit of a trouble. He takes on the ace of the staff for Baltimore in Kevin Millwood. Millwood really started the year strong but since then he has seen his ERA and WHIP both climb to above career norms.
The lineup goes back to the trusty ol number 1 tonight, Buck behind the plate hitting 8th and EE batting 9th everything else remaining the same. That being said our Bullpen should now be fully charged after the double header on Sunday and likely Downs, Camp and Gregg should all be available if the need arises.
As a side note I really hope the weird buzzing I was getting last night on ALL sportsnet channels is gone. I honestly couldn't take it and had to turn off the game. And in the comments Craigincalgary mentioned he had it too so it wasn't just in my head..... well I guess it could have been in both our heads... does that mean I think like Craig? A truely disheartening notion.

Yunel Escobar has 9-game hitting streak. 3rd longest streak to begin a Jays career. Dave Martinez (21 in 00) & Roy Howell (15 in 77).
man, i love our young rotation
remember when people were saying that the baltimore young rotation was superior than ours?
how is it looking now?
this year, the our rotation is almost as good as the rays rotation.
Evening all...
00.15 here in England, so I’m hoping something big to happen with the Jays bats in the first 3 innings, as sleep will catch up with me before long! Gotta love the holidays for being able to stay up late on weekdays : )
Birmingham, right in the heart of it : )
but originally from London, southeast corner
hey hey....a regular brit....I love the english sports...
but I am so sad that I never got the chance at baseball/hockey/volleyball/softball/little league
Loving N.A. sports!
There's enough of us Brit Jays hanging around
You just have to drag us out.
And there I was feeling all special......
Most of the people on here are Brits in some form or other! Not bad…btw, is it possible to get MLB tv online here….
Yes it is, you get the international package
Is a little pricey but you can get it on a rolling monthly package. Not really needed as every game is streamed but is an option if you do more than watch the Jays.
Pricey? Matter of perspective I guess.
I’m located in Germany and I’m watching the Jays (and whichever game I feel like watching) via MLB TV, too. And it’s about 14 Euros a month for the basic option. You’d have to pay thrice the amount a month to watch live Bundesliga soccer once a week. So, being able to watch over 150 Jays games a season is quite a good deal, I must say :-)

Coolio....
I first went to TO in 1994, have been back 10 times since – got my best friend to do a 5 week trip with me a few years back and he ended up getting a Canadian gf and marrying her a few years later – now lives in downtown TO. I proposed to my wife at Niagara falls – so I count Canada as my 2nd home : )
man up!
ive been watching almost all the games to completion in england… on gameday!

according to magpie, a poster at batters box who also works for stats inc said that
the Mets scouts are in TO tonight as they have signed the scout sign in sheet. Perhaps looking at Buck as Barajas is on the DL.

"A baseball park is the one place where a man's wife doesn't mind his getting excited over somebody else's curves."
Quite Frankly I don't want to have to watch pitchers pretending to hit
or breaking their fingers bunting runners over
just a question
if there are runners on first and second, and the batter hits an infield fly ball, can the fielder not catch it on purpose, let it drop, and then throw to third and second for the double play?

If there's a fly ball with men on first and second or bases loaded
and an infielder is camped under a fly ball, the umpire can call the batter-runner out even before the play is made—it’s called the infield fly rule. It’s there to prevent the exact scenario you describe.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
But the runners still have to wait until the ball touches the glove or the ground
before tagging up.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
what if its like a light fly, maybe head high
if the fielder purposefully lets it drop for the douple play, is it illegal?

I'd have to check the rulebook
Not sure if it’s a judgement call whether the fly out is routine.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

It also depends if the batter-runner is making a concerted effort to reach
You can let a popped up bunt drop if the bunter isn’t running it out, apparently.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Apparently it has to be ordinary effort for an infielder
so if it’s hit softly right at you, they can call it.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Also interesting
Doesn’t matter if the player who eventually makes the play is actually an infielder, as long as it would have been routine for an infielder.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
If there's 2 outs it doesn't apply because there's no double play
which is how you end up with that play in the Mets/Yankees game a while back where A-Rod popped up to second with two outs and two on in the bottom of the ninth down by one, Castillo dropped the ball, and the runs scored because everyone was running on the play.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

Snider should probably give Lewis days off more then Bautista

From Twitter
GoFisherCats
Snider tags up from first to second on flyball to center. Throw in plenty of time, Snider dances around the base and the tag. Wow.
also from twitter
MLBastian
Bautista has an AL-high 9 outfield assists this year… this from a guy that has 265 innings played at third base.
You have to imagine that number will go down quite quickly once people realize they cant run on him.
