Why is it if a team doesn't take whatever the Yankees or Red Sox offer in trade, there is something wrong with that team? We all have to me spokesmen for the rich teams?

You should see how offended they were on Pinstripealley

when someone rumored that AA asked about Joba for Downs.

Yankee/Boston fans and experts are just obnoxious when it comes to trades. They expect to acquire type A players for C level prospects or cash.

I’m not sure that they understand that the Jays and other teams can afford to be patient. AA knows this is not the year the Jays go to the playoffs. But why should he help out the Yankees now if they won’t give up future value in return.

Regrettably, that’s often because they often do.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

They are annoyed because they want him. Only reason why they care.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

And they want him very badly

David Robertson your 8th inning guy? Good luck.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

Meh!

It is the writer for Pinstripe Alley making the post, utter non-surprise.

Yeah

I wish I had realized that before I posted. He’s out to lunch.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

But its not just Fans

Olney among other “experts” act like AA is doing something offensive by holding a hardline on negotiations

by IanJ on Jul 28, 2010 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Olney isn't an expert...he's a mouthpiece.

He writes what they want him to, in exchange for access.

Also

It would be fun if we all went over there and gave him a piece of our minds…haha.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.

that would mean I'd have to sign up over there.....

hate to bring up their membership numbers for something like this

by Tom Dakers on Jul 28, 2010 5:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I have a membership.

Unfortuantely I don’t think I can be very eloquent and “SCREW YOU YANKEE ASSHOLES” wouldn’t come off very well.

Latter is much more fun. :)

Idiots

Joba stinks. I wouldn’t want him on the Jays. GImme someone else.

Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?

by T.Dot_Bronco on Jul 28, 2010 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

I agree. Joba has a bad attitude. As for Montero, we’re already loaded for catching prospects. We need 3b/OF

by JaysINKelowna on Jul 28, 2010 6:15 PM EDT up reply actions

In that case....

we would have one of the best infields in the game if Wallace could move back to 3B

by Andrew Lutz on Jul 29, 2010 8:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Really?

Is anyone really suprised by how ignorant Yanks fans are? I won’t even attend Yank/Jay games at Rogers anymore because of it. 80% of Yanks fans are LEGALLY retarded (note: estimate may be low).

Random trade idea

Would people do a trade of Bautista & Downs for Joba & Gardner + prospect(s)?

by 7-9nomore on Jul 28, 2010 7:33 PM EDT reply actions

If you guys still had Austin Jackson...

I’d be all over it…you do realise you traded away a God don’t you? He absolutely wore us out in Detroit. Joba is meh, like Gardner a lot but don’t think he comes close to value .

by ABsteve on Jul 28, 2010 9:07 PM EDT up reply actions

for the record i’m a jays fan/torontonian :P

Getting Gardner means getting rid of Lewis

Gardner is some kind of scrapper at the plate; a hard nosed player like David Eckstein who hustles and makes the pitcher throw a lot of pitches. Gardner would be a great edition to our team, and make a nice 1-2 punch with Escobar.

Theres something wrong with Joba; confidence. I think he can fix it here in Toronto instead of in NY where everyone and their phospholipids is breathing down his back.

HEADING STRAIGHT FOR THEM, I PRESS DOWN MAH GUNS!

by BenjiDoc on Jul 28, 2010 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Personally I think that the only way Joba will get it together....

is to get out of NY and their “win now” mentality. They are letting a talented pitcher rot in their bullpen because they don’t have the patience to develop him properly.

If he stays with the NYY I bet he ends up like Rick Ankiel in 4-5 years, minus the comeback attempt as an outfielder.

by IanJ on Jul 29, 2010 12:59 AM EDT up reply actions

I’d take Joba, and flip him almost immediately. There’s something in that guy’s makeup that screams disaster to me. Still, the fact is that most of the commentary looks at Downs and his free-agency, and misses the two draft picks the Jays get. Which at this point, are hugely valuable.

Nice work gents

He’s explained and stepped back from his initial post.

Gotta play 'em, might as well win 'em.
