I know. I'm like a Jedi like that. - Gm 102 - Orioles @ Jays
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays, Jul 28, 2010 7:07 PM EDT
Make it 12! Make it 12! Make it 12! Tonight the Jays go for their 12th straight win over the O's. Last nights game was amazing featuring a little bit of everything in Home Runs, Great defense (mixed in with some poor defense) good pitching. Overall it was just a good ol fashioned whoopin.
To get the 12th win against the O's the Jays have decided to challenge themselves and instead of sending one of their regulars to the mound they are going to send a rookie in Brad Mills to the mound to give the O's a fighting chance. (Please note I know the reason he was called up was due to the doubleheader, but play along ok? Ok good). The sacrificial lamb for the O's will be Jeremy Guthrie who may be making his last start in Oriole Orange as he has been linked to a few rumours. To add fuel to the fire of those rumours Guthrie has actually pitched pretty well in his last two starts after the all-star break including one against our very own Jays. In that game he went 6.2 innings only giving up 1 ER on a solo shot from Fred Lewis to lead off the game. He struck out 6 but left with the no-decision as Jedi himself hit a 2 run bomb in the 8th to give the Jays the lead and the victory.
In the lineup there are absolutely 0 changes from yesterday.
All the rage across the Jays blogosphere seems to be whether or not to trade Jose Bautista. There is a fanshot on the side bar here, The Drunks basically did a point counter-point with Stoten and Parkes, Tao has an article up as does Ghost Runner on First.... BlueJayhunter is talking about Bautista too, but as a founding member of the BAS he never really stopped so he doesn't count.
For me I fall into the camp of feeling its pointless to debate. Without knowing the offers, its hard to say. I am of the opinion that you listen for offers to everyone and anyone on your roster and it is really only a debate when you get something that may or may be worth it. So debate on fellow Banterers, just don't expect me to take a side in the trade debates.

So I've made up my mind
Keep Bautista. Not for any other reason than Wilner and Keith Law both adamantly think we should trade him. It that’s their opinion, the opposite is what should be done.
Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?
It feels like every other blog post I write is about Jose Bautista these days – but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I say hold onto him unless another team is willing to pony up with a great package full of top level prospects.
In the meantime, let the BAS revel in all this glory!
Hey everybody. My name is Bryce – coming out of Lincoln, Nebraska in the US. My buddies and I all chipped in at the beginning of the season to subscribe to MLB TV in order to watch the games. I’ve always loved this community out of all the Jays blogs and am proud to be a part of it. Let’s go for win #11, son.
every media reporter calls AA's demands crazy well the Giants called the Mariners
about Aardsma and the mariners said they’d trade Aardsma and Lopez for Pablo Sandoval
guthrie looks sharp tonight, good fastball, must want to be traded off of the O's,
can’t blame him really
Pat called 96mph "sneaky" fast.

with
the LAA trade for Lee falling through it’s obvious they want a big bat. Do they have anything that would interest us if we were to trade Bautista to them?

Question
why not start Drabek tonight? What’s the harm in calling him up for a spot start?
Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?
He is getting close to an innings cap. And they usually don’t do that for spot starts for top guys
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
how many innings does a minor leaguer usually pitch in a season? 150?

Just judging by Gameday...
Mills seems very Moyer-esque.
"A baseball park is the one place where a man's wife doesn't mind his getting excited over somebody else's curves."
I've seen a few by Mills at 84.
"A baseball park is the one place where a man's wife doesn't mind his getting excited over somebody else's curves."
From what I can recall, yeah.
"A baseball park is the one place where a man's wife doesn't mind his getting excited over somebody else's curves."
Not be much
I remember Moyer rarely broke out at 90.
He’s pretty much had the same stuff when he started (I saw one of his first ever starts in 86 on NBC’s game of the week.)

League has apparently blown 5 this year…and he’s not even the stopper.
"A baseball park is the one place where a man's wife doesn't mind his getting excited over somebody else's curves."
People dont view those the same though. You come in during the 7th inning and give up 1 run to tie the game and thats a blown save. No one piles on those ones like the 9th inning ones.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
That's true.

Mills looks like he's throwing really hard with his delivery, but it still only registers 86 on the gun
and he has some looping curveball. That thing started on the hitter’s eyes and dropped to his knees.
