with regards to Gose
call this fan overly-optimistic, but is Anthony Gose the next Ricky Henderson?……Probably not,…but italicizing 40th steal might help….but seriously, lets not forget about Russ Adams…..he’d always “turn it around next game…right dad?”….“no son, no he won’t”.
no connection really
only high expectations on both

He was also caught for the 32nd time.
As someone mentioned the other day, maybe he doesn’t break for 2nd until the ball reaches the catcher. Little league rules?

I read
That a lot of his caught steals were actually pick-offs (from a Phillies fan when they made the trade). If so, hopefully it’s just a matter of him learning how to read pick-off moves better.
Whatever it is I think it's a matter of learning to read the pitcher better
It’s pretty clear he does have speed, his SB and 3B numbers attest to that, but thething is he needs to learn to get better jumps and read pickoff moves better, once he does that then maybe he’s one of those guys who you’re lucky to catch every 10 times.
I've Noticed
that it seems a large majority of his caught steals are at third base; he gets on base once a game with a hit or a walk, steals second and then gets caught trying to steal 3rd. May be over jealousor trying too hard to impress.
Josh Roenicke
Wow, Josh Roenicke is 8-0 in Vegas. Anyone know what kind of relief situations he’s being used in? I thought he was groomed as a closer, but I see that Jeremy Accardo is the man with 23 saves. Wonder if one or both of these guys will get a September callup. Their numbers both warrant I’d think.
I think both are going to be called up
But of course, relief records are not really a useful metric

Yeah, I wouldn’t put much stock in his 8-0 as it’s pretty flukey with relievers in terms of when they get to come into games. Just surprised and wondering what kind of situations he’s being used in. Regardless, his other numbers look decent too. I feel bad for both Roenicke and Accardo as they’re good enough to play in the big leagues (though maybe not consistent enough), have put up good numbers this year and think it would be a good morale booster for them to get a September callup. I think either or both could once again have a shot at grabbing a job in spring training.
What’s the deal with Magnusson? He’s got great stats and is one of the bright spots on that relief staff in New Hampshire… Is he better off staying at AA or is it time for him to move up to AAA? (The talent in AA is more competitive???) He’s got a career high in SO’s this year and his BB’s have gone down every year. (9) in 64.2 innings pitched. This is only his third year in the minors but he is already 25.
At AA New Hampshire, Magnusson and Collins had fairly similar stats at AA New Hampshire.

Tim Collins has done really well after moving up to AAA Omaha.

I'm thinking we have a real gem with Carlos Perez.
Wouldn’t be surprised if D’arnaund is used as trade bait soon.
lots of stuff can happen
between low-A and the Majors. but I wouldn’t be shocked either

Carreno
I have to say he has been a great surprise for us this year. I like what he did last year in the lower levels along side of Alvarez, but it looks like Carreno has paced ahead of Alvarez this year. That doesn’t necessarily mean anything because Carreno is older than Alvarez, but it is nice to see him destroying the league at the moment.
Much older
but I still like what’s come from him in terms of stats and think he still should be mentioned in any discussion of pitching prospects.
