Cause August Had to End: Our Batters in August
As a team we hit .254/.322/.457 with 43 home runs. We averaged 4.75 runs a game. Not our best month of the season but not bad at all considering the teams we played.
Let's take a look at out hitters did in the month of August.
John Buck: .283/.306/.348, no home runs, 7 RBI in 46 at bats. Missed a couple of weeks.
Jose Molina: .171/.227/.171, no homers, no RBI in 41 at bats. The month he plays the most he hits the least.
J.P. Arencibia: .250/.250/.600 2 home runs, 3 RBI in 20 at bats.
Lyle Overbay: .229/.353/.471, 4 HR, 16 RBI in 70 at bats. Fell off some after a good June and July.
Aaron Hill: .248/.287/.515, 7 HR, 16 RBI in 101 at bats.
Yunel Escobar: .256/.337/.333, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 90 at bats.
Edwin Encarnacion: .265/.333/.456, 3 HR, 7 RBI in 68 at bats.
Fred Lewis: .200/.293/.288, 1 HR, 6 RBI in 80 at bats.
Vernon Wells: .248/.296/.446, 3 HR, 14 RBI in 101 at bats. A bit of a bounce back from a terrible July.
Jose Bautista: .299/.431/.742, 12 HR, 24 RBI in 97 at bats. Player of the Month again. Funny part is, it isn't that much better than his average month this year.
Adam Lind: .278/.320/.536, 5 HR, 15 RBI in 97 at bat. About the same as he did in July.
Travis Snider: .238/.281/.381, 2 HR, 8 RBI in 84 at bats.
John McDonald: .382/.417/.765, 3 HR, 6 RBI in 34 at bats. Small sample size and all but wow.
DeWayne Wise: .250/.250/.500, 0 HR, 2 RBI in 20 at bats.

Umm..
Not making many friends here with a title like “Beware of Bautista”….but I’ll take your bait anyway.
33 hr 92 rbi 265 avg
I will bump up his RBI
I think he hit 100 again if batting 3 or 4 all year. HR and average look about right.
25 and 80 sounds right. No way he hits .270 thou
Come on, Rook. Show us that million-dollar arm, 'cause I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours.

Wow
Snider only had 13 fewer at-bats than Bautista? I was under the impression he never plays
-- Gravity is not just the law, it's also a good idea
Ar Bats not Plate Appearences
Batista had a lot of walks, and a couple HBP’s
There She Gooooooes!
After a .200/.293/.288 line
I wonder if Lewis is still boggled when he doesn’t see his name in the lineup?
it’s just one month, and at least he did up his walk rate, so there’s one positive thing to take from the month.
