You Couldn't Live With Me So You Moved To Brooklyn: 9/3 Game Thread, Jays at Yankees
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees, Sep 3, 2010 1:05 PM EDT
The Jays kick off a 3-game series today in New York, with Brandon Morrow facing off against Ivan Nova. Yunel Escobar continues to miss time, with Mike McCoy filling in at shortstop and leading off. Travis Snider mans left field and bats second. Lyle Overbay is back in the lineup, shifting Adam Lind back to DH. And Johnny Mac gets the start at short with Edwin Encarnacion out, while Jose Molina catches the Morrow start, as usual. That's if the game happens, though - it's free and clear here in DC but NY is far closer to Earl.
Tom had a great post this morning so I don't want to take up too much space. Here you go. Title from Jesse Malin's song "Brooklyn."

This line up pleases me
(Well, having JPA catch Morrow so he could throw to a different catcher at least once to see how he does wouldn’t hurt)
Ball.
Sweet Day Game
I can be on the GameThread.
Problem of working evenings.
There She Gooooooes!
Question
Does anyone know a way to watch the game for those without Rogers. Atdhe doesn’t seem to have it.
There She Gooooooes!
stream
anyone know where you can watch this? I don’t wanna miss morrow’s last start.
Heck, I'd take Audio coverage
my local radio doesn’t do Weekday day games. They don’t interrupt the regularly schedualled programming…

Team 1410
Sometimes Team 1410 in Vancouver will carry the games and they have an audio feed…not sure about day games though…worth a try
yeah
Vancouver is a little far from Kitchener

Snider
Snider should get better pitches to hit with Bautista behind him

Wow, Life is Perfect
I’m getting married in next Friday, and flying out from Toronto for honeymoon early Sunday morning. The future wife just asked if we wanted to go see the Jay-Rays game on Saturday afternoon as a start to the honeymoon.
I found the perfect girl.

Sorry
Didn’t even read your name there
There She Gooooooes!
Pull him and give him another start ;)

from the replay
it looked like Bautista could’ve potentially caught the ball. Can someone who saw it comment on that?
Random thought to the editors: Have you ever though about posting the WPA charts from fangraphs in the game recaps?
I am also enjoying
The commercials in spanish
There She Gooooooes!
Ha I don’t pay attention to the commercials, didn’t notice the spanish.

Ground out for Molina....
watching him now, makes you wonder how it was that he was hitting well earlier in the season.
I think I found the game

The add stays for about 60 seconds.

According to pitch fx, Morrow's only hitting 92 with the fastball
Maybe just an off day, or maybe the fact that this is his last start has gotten to his head. Although if that was the case you would think he’d just be letting it go as hard as he can today…
Splitters?
I’ve got Gameday up….Does Morrow usually throw this many Splitters?
I don't think he throws a splitter
nor does Fangraphs. Maybe they are just reading a slower-than-usual fastball as a splitter
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
I noticed that too, i think it's because his fastball is slower than usual today
Look at the break on his fastball vs. splitter, they are almost the same

Good Time
for an Earl warning

If morrow can pull it together
This game is still well within reach.

Another start
Morrow only threw 71 pitches, could this mean he could get another start? A chance to finish on a high note?

Home run tally
Questions for you enlightened folks…
How many dingers do we have this year (including Snider’s today)?
What is the Jays’ record for most in a season?
What is the MLB record for most in a season?
What is the most we’ve hit in a month this year?
Bluebird Banter bonus points to anyone with the answers.
he's doing a bit of everything today... good to see!
vdub walked… let’s hope they can keep it going

Nice
Just left to make some lunch, and come back to see we scored a couple.

Ugh
"You, sir, are addressing a man, who is in fact quiet... and yet, not quiet, if I may offer to you a riddle."
When Tallet's on...
He seems to be good for 2 innings max…asking for anything more from him is just asking for trouble…

did Morrow get hit hard?
Come on, Rook. Show us that million-dollar arm, 'cause I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours.
He was wild and had lower velocity then normal

Why is it that 9 out of 10 commercials...
on the FAN590 include the sound of babies screaming?

So when the commercials are over it makes the programming seem a lot better by comparison.
