Brandon Morrow's last start of the year wasn't what we wanted, Jays lose to Yankees.
Brandon Morrow's last start should have gone a lot better. He had a hard time finding the strike zone and when he did he was hit hard. It didn't go well and he came out after 3 innings with 5 earned runs against him. It is too bad, then those things happen, maybe it is a good thing that he's being shut down.
Brian Tallet came in and pitched two good innings. Unfortunately Cito sent him out for a 3rd. He gave up two runs in that inning. Casey Janssen and David Purcey pitched the last two innings without allowing a run.
We didn't do too much offensively either. Travis Snider hit a home run in the first to give us a short lived lead. He had 2 hits on the day. Bautista, Overbay, Hill and Lind each had one. Bautista and Wells each took two walks as well. The only Jays not to reach base were Mike McCoy (who didn't look good at the plate) and John McDonald.
Jay of the Day is Travis Snider (.098 WPA). Aaron Hill deserves a honorable mention for a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Suckage Jays are Morrow (-.307) and McCoy (-.171).
All-in-all, not a great effort. Tomorrow Marc Rzepczynski (1-3, 6.03) gets the start. Javier Vazquez (9-9, 4.96) goes for the Yankees. Another afternoon game and this one on the normal Sportsnet channels. Yay.

At least Snider was playing

Come on, Rook. Show us that million-dollar arm, 'cause I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours.
yeah he looks kind of baked in that pic.Google images is weak. But going with the theme... thats how a British person would pose IMO. It wasen't much different then Roger Moore's facial expression on the original cover.

nothing equates to bringing in Tallet. His era is in the high 6’s, he’s almost 35, and we can better lefty options. Hell, I would rather put in Carlson than Tallet. I really, really hope he doesn’t make the team next year.

Highlights
I was watching the highlights of the game on the regular sportsnet (you know, the one I actually get) and they showed morrow slipping in 1st inning on his way to cover first base. They showed him going into the clubhouse with the trainer a couple of times too. I hope this doesn’t actually mean anything and they’re just being cautious.

He was being shut down for the rest of the year regardless so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
It’s a good thing their shutting him down, I wouldn’t mind if they tried to limit Romero’s innings a bit too. He already exceed his innings from last season and he is still relatively young. Better safe than sorry.

He has pitched 2 more innings than last year....
The idea isn’t that they can’t exceed the number of innings they threw as a rookie. The idea is to keep the increases manageable. There is different theories but they are trying to keep the increases to not much more than a 20% increase in innings.
You do have to increase their number of innings or you will never have a pitcher that can pitch a full major league season. Minor league seasons are shorter than major league seasons.
I saw an interview with AA about shutting down Morrow I believe
And it would seem he is all for the 20% rule. He talked about how he doesn’t want his young pitcher to exceed 120% of their previous innings pitched.
