Do you want to see-see CC in a Jays uniform?
This is my first real fanpost guys so please don't be too harsh! As you all know one of the Jays' areas of focus this offseason will be to attempt to get a top starting pitcher. Names like Darvish and Wilson have been tossed around and both have their pros and cons. Sportsnet today was saying that CC Sabathia is going to decline the option on his contract to test the free agency market. Of course, most people would love to see him on the Jays, only if not to have to face him when playing the Yankees. I also believe that it would be great to see him pitch for Toronto; however, I feel his price and length of contract will be too steep. It would be unbelievable to have a top three of Sabathia, Romero, Morrow, but is that thinking completely off-base? What do you guys think? Also, do you think that the potential for the market to shift towards CC could maybe take Wilson and Darvish out of the spotlight so the Jays could potentially acquire them for a more reasonable deal? Let me know!

I think AA should make a run at CC and drive up the price for the Yankees
But no, I won’t want to see him in a Jays’ uniform.

The ROI would disappear just from the extra jersey material.

Don't want him
Don’t care where he goes as long as it’s not Boston. Ideally he will go somewhere in the NL. Chicago could use him.
Man who has four balls cannot walk
As a Cubs fan, that would make me extremely happy. I don’t really see it happening though when they are supposedly trying to trim payroll.

plenty of dollars to go around
Unfortunately, I think there will be a big pay-out for all 3: Sabathia, Wilson and Darvish. I don’t think we’ll be in the running for the first 2, but I think AA might be able to “state his case” in front of Beeston et al well enough to get the money on the table for the foolishly high posting fee. Darvish’s contract itself will be reasonable, I think
I'm not really sure if the post is facetious
but no one seems keen on making “but he’s fat so will be bad tomorrow!” jokes/comments about CC, despite the fact that he’s also 4 years older than Fielder
still early yet =P

Maybe hes holding out hoping boston will give him more money?
I don’t get his thinking, the yankees will probably offer him the most money, why play games with them.
I don’t think he will effect the price of Darvish, but perhaps CJ wilson (his post season may have done that for him). There are plenty of teams to throw money around, one more big FA isn’t going to take away the fact there isn’t a whole lot out there this off season.
Sure, the media will have something else to cover, but i doubt the demand for wilson/darvish will decline enough to have the jays, or any team, not overpay for them

I don't think CC would affect CJ and Darvish all that much, or at all, really.
It’s 95% guaranteed that CC returns to the Yankees, and even after signing CC the Yankees will still choose to go after one of CJ or Darvish.

Hes going back to the Yankees.
Look at the Yanks rotation. They can’t afford to let him walk, no matter the price.
Would I love to see him pitching for the Jays? Sure, but it isn’t happening, for numerous reasons including price, length of contract and the Yankees.

question
Is Kuroda going back to Japan?
by benk on Oct 31, 2011 11:44 AM EDT via mobile reply actions
What's with his contract situation?
He’s 2nd time arb eligible next year and making $12M?!
Illuminate My Heart, My Darling!
In 2007 he signed a deal out of Japan...
That paid him approximately $36 m over 3 years (No posting fee). Then he signed a one year deal for $12 m last season. He is now a free agent.
.313/.400/.565
I've read it's about 50/50
At the trade deadline Kuroda hinted about going back but also favoured staying in the West if traded. Those mixed signals may have prevented the Dodgers from trading him but the bottom line is that a very underrated pitcher is basically off the market :(

Let the Yankees overpay
The other day I had too much time on my hands so I put together a list of all the pitchers over the past 30 years or so with more IPs than Sabathia who continued putting up above average seasons after their age 33 season. I was surprised how many there were, but it was still a rather short list considering the number of quality pitchers there have been over that time period. It would be awesome having Sabathia on the Jays for the next 3 years (and 3 years only), but since that’s not going to happen, let the Yankess overpay. He could end up being worth it, but history doesn’t support that being the case. I like the way the yanks payroll is shaping up 3 years from now. They could have $70M a year tied up on 3 MLB average players all in decline.

No
Because we all know that vertical stripes are slimming and the thought of CC wearing a flashback Fridays uni is truly revolting (this despite the fact that I liked the baby blues)

Yes, I'd love to see CC in a Jays uniform
just like I’d love to see Roy Halladay (again), David Price, Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols, Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Trout, Andrew McCutchen and Justin Upton in Jays’ uniforms.
We aren’t going to get those guys (except maybe Fielder), but I’d love to see them on the Jays.
122 million for 5 years……..that’s a lot of money. CC had yankees by the balls, and he took full advantage.
IMO he deserves it.
His numbers are great. His numbers would be even better in a non-AL East division.

I think the yankees got off lucky
The guaranteed portion is only $30M (‘only", I say – what a corrupted view reality) more than the origianl contract and CC really did have the Yanks by the balls. If he left, their starting rotation was looking pretty thin, something that would not be acceptable with that payroll and that offense. Although, the vesting option looks like its almost automatic, as long as he doesn’t have shoulder issues in the final year of the contract.
