David Purcey To A's For Dan Farquhar
Just a rumor yet but Ken thinks David Purcey will be traded to the A's for Dan Farquhar. You all likely remember Farquhar was traded to the A's as part of the Rajai Davis deal.
It works for me, I'm happy getting something back for Purcey and I wish Purcey the best in Oakland. He could still become a good pitcher, I hope it happens for him.
Update: Trade is official now.
About as good a deal as we could hope to get.

Too bad Purcey wasn’t fixable within the organization. After that Lind-induced injury, he really hasn’t been the same. All the best to him.
So, it’s Purcey, Maguson for Rajal? Still works for me.
yep
trade a promising reliever without options for a younger promising reliever with three of them.
think they'll try and turn him back into a starter?
seems like a weird move from oakland’s standpoint otherwise, no?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
wouldn't that be tough?
since he’s still out of options?

was thinking the same
though if they see a lot of upside in him maybe they’ll be willing to burn the roster space? Otherwise, I just don’t get how this is a worthwhile move for them

It wasn't the injury
He has a long history of being unable to throw strikes. It’s why he failed as a starter.
I've been looking at the sky

No
That was Lord Farquad with a D. Although everyone thinks it is an R.
He is still nicknamed Lord though.

can't believe they were able to make this trade
last year a lot of people were calling Farquhar the possible closer of the future. Doubt that happens, but he should be a very solid reliever.
now that he's a Jay again
Dan Farquhar is AMAZING!!!! CLOSER OF THE FUTURE WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

He has one awesome name.

Can we flip him to Boston for dice k?
I’m so sick of him having a double digit ERA against the other 28 teams and looking like a cy young winner vs us.

I don't actually want him to pitch for us
I just don’t want to face him 4-5 times a year.

I’m sure we could trade Escobar for Collins. Not that we’d want to :)

I'd like to have a crystal ball
And be able to see if Collins’ body is able to hold up to the major league schedule. Seeing as though he’s already gone through being undrafted, undersized, a weight gain, and has had success at every level so far, I wouldn’t bet against him.
man
he’s walking like 6 guys an inning and giving up hits at a decent-at-best rate. he’s getting really, really lucky. he’ll probably be a fine, maybe even a good, reliever, but those aren’t very valuable
his babip is slightly outrageous at .375, so the hits could come down

pino
Did anyone notice that we added Yohan Pino (rhp) from the Indians for cash considerations at the same time? My guess is that’s who the Tribe had offered for Purcey, AA chose to go with the A’s offer of Farquhar but replied to the Indians, “If you’re still interested..” That’s why it pays to work the phones a bit..
