Jays Accept Brad Emaus back from Mets
As Tom mentioned the other day the Mets removed Emaus from their roster. As per the Rule 5 rules he had to be offered back to the Jays at 1/2th price or work out a trade to keep him. We got him back and he is headed to Vegas

Think we might give him a chance at third?
It’s been pretty universally acknowledged that the Mets didn’t give him a fair chance through only 30 or 40 at bats. Since Nix isn’t going to be a part of the future, why not see what he can do? Nix is a career .200 hitter so it’s not like he would be much of a downgrade anyways at 8th or 9th in the lineup, and he might end up being decent enough to either be a solid utility player going forward or trade fodder for another youngster.
Given that the team isn’t supposed to be challenging this year, seems like we may as well see what we have in him.

I feel the same way in regards to them not going for it this season and they might as well play someone like Emaus for at least half a season and see how he does. But they can’t think that highly of him can they? Given that they didn’t even bother to protect him from the rule five draft in the first place last fall.
Chances are that Emaus doesn’t do any better than Nix would over a full season but Emaus is over three years younger than Nix is and he could be a decent player. Maybe nothing more than a bench player, but a useful cheap player is a useful cheap player and there nice to have around.
Some of these moves the team has made really confuse me, why is Woodward on the roster over McCoy? Why is Nix being handed all this playing time? And now at the expense of Emaus. I like young guys too much but I’d love to see Emaus get a shot at third and McCoy on the bench getting sometime in the infield and outfield with Woodward and Nix losing time to those two.
For Emaus sake he’s probably better off at triple-A with the Mets or any number of other NL teams than Toronto.

Re: McCoy vs. Woodward
When did McCoy get optioned last time? Is this the 10 day thing again?

yeah he hasn't been down for ten days yet
I don’t know that they wouldn’t have tried Woodward anyway.

Emaus had 20 errors at 3rd last season in AAA
In only 87 games. He also had a terrible time fielding 3rd in winter ball. His play at 2nd has been much better. His main, and possibly only, strength is he can draw a walk. If we want to put some crap D at 3rd we have better choices right this moment. Install EE there. Call up Lawrie now. Just my opinion, but Emaus will be a AAAA player at best.
Emaus traded to Colorado
For 27 yr old AA reliever Chris Malone, plus either a PTBNL or cash. Malone is organizational filler and fortunately mediocre enough that no one will be posting that he should be brought up to the majors.
