Dustin McGowan's Rehab Assignment
A few fact:
-Dustin McGowan began his rehab assignment July 30.
-A believe the time limit for rehab assignments is 1 month.
-His current status on MilB.com is "Rehab assignment".
-MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm reported in his inbox that the Jays could put him on the 7 day DL, and they could start the whole rehab process all over again.
-His last outing was on July 25th for Dunedin. He threw 3 innings. I don't know how many pitches he threw though. I'm guessing around 50 or so however, given the high # of K's and BB's he had.
-Wil Ledezma is still on the 25 man roster
Bottom line is that we should hear something soon from the Jays.
The most likely scenario is probably Chisholm's suggestion. I find it strange that that's allowable, however. That being said, I'm sure McGowan wouldn't complain about being cautious. Before making that elusive call, I'm thinking that they would want him up to at least 80 pitches and have him pitch a few games in AA.
I'm guessing he'll take Ledezma's sport, eventually. And that Villanueva will go to the pen. Or maybe McGowan will simply be put in the pen.

According to the Jays website on June 30th
Once McGowan starts his rehab assignment on Saturday, the Blue Jays will have 30 days to either recall him or put him back on the disabled list.
According to Farrell, if the team wanted McGowan to go on a second rehab assignment they would have to recall him after the first 30 days for seven days of inactivity. During that week-long window McGowan would not be permitted to pitch in a game where there is paid attendance.

Either way you look at it, it appears that McGowan is going to end up on another rehab assignment. Considering he has only pitched 12.2 innings since 2008, I think and hope the Jays will be very cautious in how they bring him along and that he will be shutdown after his next rehab assingment.

Any chance we can schedule it around some games in Tampa?

It’s such a shame about the attendance issues in Tampa… they could get so many more fans to the game, but they are locked into that damn contract. Someone in the government there should really pull their finger out and force a change, it would be great for the area.

Yea it really is a shame
I mean out all 30 teams, the Florida area is probably one of the least likely places in need of a dome stadium. Both RC and Tropicana is use as multi-purpose, not just for baseball therefore a dome is understandable. But why in the world would they not make it retractable, that i dont understand.
