Very nice hit with Edwin
Love how our lineup is looking. If only Lind would get back on track. Bautista looked much better today than the last few. That day off seems to have helped.
True that.
But still he’s been slumping. It wasn’t that long ago he was hitting over .300. His average is in the .260s now.
That was EncarnaciOWNED!

CF don't have to hit nearly as well to be valuable
and he is also a 4th outfielder.
Lind is a 1B. He should be hitting better than the league average player
I demand to be heard.
What do you think he should be hitting?
(Not sarcasm, just wondering what he has to do to be part of a playoff team)
I think what his performance needs to be depends on whether we sign a bat in the offseason, whether the other guys step up and Jose’s performance next year.
Really?
Yankees have weakness at some positions where we have strengths.
If we have a way better SS, we can afford to have a worse 1B, no? Not by a ton but Texeira is an all-star.
teixeira this year is hitting wayyy below his norm
and its still wayyyyyyy better than what lind is hitting right now
I demand to be heard.
Didn't answer her question
Remember when we all hated EE too. You seem to take current slumps and magnify them into your view of the player. Granted Lind has had a rough go for about two seasons
A day that will live in infamy: August 4th, 2011
Brett Lawrie: AVG: .355 HR: 2 RBI: 7 OBP: .394 WPA: 0.701
I thought Texeira was hitting better than he actually is
HR fooled me.
Texeira is amazing, I don’t think Lind needs to hit .300 for him to be valuable on a playoff team. He needs to improve, definitely, but it is only his 3rd full season in the majors and he’s only 28 so it’s not like we NEED to replace him.
This argument happened in the original GDT thread too
Oh well

I think if Adam doesn't improve he needs to be replaced
He’s an option but he can’t just stick around if he doesn’t perform.
So I’m not against getting a better 1B, it’s just why give up on him if half our lineup has the same question marks.
Every team has players that they'd like replaced.
It’s just the way it goes. Although, historically 1B isn’t where you want the hole to be.
A day that will live in infamy: August 4th, 2011
Brett Lawrie: AVG: .355 HR: 2 RBI: 7 OBP: .394 WPA: 0.701
I think the point is
1B might be an easier position to find someone hitting better than Lind.
never said he had to hit .300
but he at least has to show a +.800 OPS as a 1B.
I demand to be heard.
Well he did it in 2009
When someone’s done it before, there’s a better chance he’ll do it again. (Optimism)

Hey finally Uggla's hitting streak is over
no more Uggla = Joe D possibility. The world is back to normal

he still had quite a long way to go, though. I was pretty sure he wouldn’t get it. :P

it's pretty incredible
we make all this fuss over a 30 game hit streak, when you need TWO of them to match Joey
WAR... WAR never changes.
It's harder in todays game to put that kind of streak together
then it might have been back then (talking 30 games here).

Why should they?
Almost all Jays fans don’t watch ESPN.
They talk about us when we spy so...

Wrong
Too many of us have an inferiority complex
I know right.
I don’t get ESPN, I don’t go to their website, I don’t read their magazine why should I care what they’re talking about.
There is a Jays story in the current Mag issue

For me, 40+ is already pretty crazy since many stopped in the 30 range

I was wondering that, what if the season ends? Does their streak pick up the next year where it was before?

I would like to give credit to the bullpen for being solid and not blowing it, since we harp on them so much when they don’t.
Good job Rauch.
Well we didnt have the lead, its only closing time the bullpen struggle
