hmm. Jays lead the majors in BS, about twice as many as Boston (23-12). They have the lowest save % in the majors (20% less than Boston). Don’t know where to get stats on blown holds, but we probably lead there too.

But the argument is that pitchers don’t control wins so how can you credit them for something that they don’t control?
blown saves are a team stat. the stats I cite above (ie blown saves) are team-based (ie bullpen, as is bullpen era). don’t think I said this used as individual metric. that was your assumption.
saves are a completely contextual based stat
you can blow hundreds of saves by just giving up 1 run in a 1-run game, and still give up less runs than a team that blows no saves

You need a supporting cast to win games, it’s not a 1 man team. A save comes much more easy with a 3 run lead then a 1 run lead, if each pitcher allows a run, which one is better?

lets use a slightly different example. The highest scoring hockey team, the Oilers, had goalies (Fuhr and Moog), that had GAA that were not in the top ten. Did not matter, because they kept their teams in the game close enough for their offence to win. They won multiple championships. As long as you allow fewer runs than you score in the games that matter, that is all that matters.
how so if they don't keep it close, its the goalie's fault for allowing them to score?
