Rays only half a game back. They sweep the yanks. Sox get swept by the O’s. And just to end the season well, the Jays sweep the Chisox.

random but KJ has a career .808 OPS against lefties, better than righties. This season: .618 OPS against lefties
so either pitchers have found some critical weakness in his swing

Sometimes LHB’s don’t play against tough left-handers. It can make the splits a bit deceptive.

looking at his approach, I think it makes sense why he hits lefties well. Covers the outside well, sees a lot of pitches and goes the other way

I wonder what % of cecil’s runs are allowed from homeruns because it seems like that’s the only way he gives up runs
He's given up 22 homeruns (considering an average of 1.4 runs per HR) and he's given up 68 runs, you get the 45% of his runs have come via the long ball

It is actually is, I went through his homerun log and 36 of his runs were a result of the long ball. That pushes his average up to 53%

I'm not sure, but the average pitcher gives u 1.4 runs per homerun and Cecil gives up 1.9 runs, on average, per homerun. Thats interesting and worth noting.

well he was a GM for 8 or 9 years. If you can’t leave some good pieces before you’re fired then you shouldn’t have a baseball job.

If you look at errors at 1B (Which is a decent way to compare players at that position, as the ball is thrown to them so many times and if they mess up its an E) it gives a better idea.

Range is nice for a 1B and I think he has some range (Just personal opinion, not claiming I’m a scout)

I agree that at the Major league level with proper sample sizes there are much more accurate ways to measure it.

that's completely overgeneralized
because that’s not what happens in the Majors. there is practically no correlation between fielding skill (metrics with enough data) and error rates, but I’m sure (this is conjecture) there is at least some correlation with scouting reports and fielding skill
David Cooper is a minus defender. Not saying he will win a gold glove
but everybody has bad games. Lawrie had a game where he cost us a total of 3 outs.
