Ricky’s career numbers are balanced out by having to face bad teams and good teams. If you pitch in the East, you’re numbers are worse.

basically, the point of increasing sample sizes isn’t to eliminate the differences between populations (or treatments, or whatever), it’s to get a better read on what the differences are
this is getting a bit esoteric, but in actuality, with large enough samples, you will always find a significant difference between two treatments or two different populations. it’s a question of whether that difference is actually meaningful or not

but the variance will be smaller
i’m not a statistician, but basically, as your sample size (n) increases, the sample mean (Y-bar) should not change (assuming the initial sample was big enough to get a good estimate of the population mean), but the variance should decrease
