If they were actually in Cespedes, he just made a whole lot more sense. I’d imagine, though, they go for a short term fix, low cost fix…Damon, Vladdy, etc. And then re-assess in July, and get an upgrade if you need one.

That probably doesn't make sense

If only due to Wright’s contract…he has a 2013 option which he can void if he’s traded (and become FA after 2012). So the Mets can keep him, hope for a rebound, exercise the option at the end of the year, and he still has as much control as he does now. And you keep him for a year (at $15M, so there is risk, you need him to be a 3 WAR player)
