I hate how cheap Rogers is
Their inability to retain talent frustrates me

True that. What's Brandon anyway? He's no Prince Fielder
In honor of the Jays 2nd Baseman who played with fire in more ways than one.

I’m not sure I understand who we lost? Or how this thread has anything to do with Rogers being “cheep”
All my sources told me that
Rogers was cheap. Bah.

Seems to me
That this is being overshadowed with the Vizquel minor league deal and Uehara rumours. But I think this is the far bigger deal for the franchise.
Yea, it is kinda funny
Though it probably is just because the Morrow extension is not very shocking (that it happened or the years / dollars), whereas noone expected Vizquel to sign (plus, he’s old).

Interestingly
The guaranteed years pay him exactly what his current market value is, if you go by the 40/60/80% arb thing.
4/.6 = 6.67MM
6.67 × 3 = 20MM
Rumors from Japan
Koji Uehara traded to Toronto from Texas , from two separate Japanese Media
mentioned in the other thread
still seems sketchy, nobody else confirming
+1 is only good if you actually rec the post

Trying to find out more about Japanese "Uehara to #Bluejays " report – there’s definitely something going on. #Jays are in on him.
Still though, if there are rumors about it, how likely is it to be true.

Yes, DONE DEAL Koji Uehara is a Toronto #BlueJay
His 2011 wRC+ is 26
Scott Swain of MLb INSIDER confirms Koji to the Jays
As well the Nats sign Prince for 165 million
That is my takeaway from the Darvish business
Don’t trust twitter sources ever.
Koji obviously insane
with Uehara himself saying he wished to return to Baltimore.

Absolutely nothing to dislike about this deal. The Jays have a solid one-two tandem at the top of the lineup, both reasonably priced and locked up through 2015. Especially with the depth in the minor leagues behind them, the Jays will likely be able to stay away from the overpriced FA market for starters and still field a top quality rotation for a few years.
There’s still a bunch of ‘ifs’, but they’re pretty high upside ifs. If McGowan can pitch back to form, he’s a front of the rotation level of player. If Alverez can capitalize on his strong debut, he’s got the tools to be a good, possibly excellent, starter. If Cecil has a bounceback season, he’s a quality lefty slotted into the middle. If Drabek can find his control, his stuff is good enough to force his way back into the lineup. If Hutchison or Jenkins of McGuire make a strong showing, they could get a chance to steal a spot early.
You can never have too much pitching, but these kind of depth gives AA the trade flexibility to swing big deals without compromising the farm, and if a couple of those ‘ifs’ pan out, the Jays will be well matched rotation wise with any team in baseball.
