Today in Blue Jay History: Jays Sign Kevin Millar
I don't have a punch line. Here's Hugo's story, from the day that will live in infamy. I've been complaining about the lack of news of late, it could always be worse.

While Bautista offers some insurance against a Rolen injury, the fact that he can’t hit righties and plays average at best defense at third really means he only offers insurance as the right-handed half of a platoon where Joe Inglett would probably get more at-bats.

The main consideration with Millar v. Bautista is probably money

Also leadership. Millar’s tangible/intangible splits were through the roof.

From the other post on Millar
it’d be great to trade, say Bautista and Frasor (the Twins were in on Lyon, so we know they’re interested in righty relief help, and Frasor compares reasonably well to Lyon and is cheaper) for someone like Boof Bonser, who is out of options and who has fallen out of favor in the Twin Cities but who has very respectable career peripherals. I’d give him a shot at taking a starting job with the Jays. Problem is, I can’t see the Twins taking on Bautista for $2.4 million – he just doesn’t profile well as an everyday player with a career .685 OPS against righties and mediocre defense, and (as we know) that’s too much to pay someone who is only going to play against lefties in this market.
It’s amazing to look at how things can change in a just a few years
Hahahaha stupid hugo

the bad part about having archives is that you get reminded how many times you are wrong.
I blog, therefore I am.
Yea I'm so glad I wasn't on board back then

2009 was all about Cowboy Flop
In honor of the Jays 2nd Baseman who played with fire in more ways than one.

He had a killer walk rate.
That’s about all he did well for us. Was he the last big leaguer left who wasn’t a player’s union member? Jays had a thing for those guys (Millar, Mennechino, Ligtenberg).

I remember rolling my eyes at this signing
I think some veteran players get signed with the understanding (or is it even in their contract?) that they will get x number of plate appearances. Then the manager is handcuffed. And I don’t buy the “good clubhouse guy” in this case. He was one of those Red Sox good-offs! Clubhouse jesters might be good for a laugh, but…

I really want some Blue Jays news!
I don't always have exams, but when I do they are DURING the Jays home opener.
