I see the window as much wider
This overview doesn’t do justice to the 2011 draftees, who have yet to get started, and the 2012 draft which is set to be pretty good (lots of picks and lots of money available still).
Blogging about the Toronto Blue Jays at Bluebird Banter
Yeah I agree
Saying that the window shuts after 2015 doesn’t do justice to any of this system. Yes most of the current core will be on the decline, but a new core will be established by then, one that looks like it has much higher upside.
Yeah they definitely put the window closing too early imo
we have control of a lot of promising prospects beyond then, not even including this year and last year’s drafts. Plus just because we dont have current stars signed that long, that doesnt mean we’ll lose all of them to FA
Thanks everyone for the comments.
As MjwW said above, I make generalizations based off of what will happen based off of current stars, just due to the fact I’m not sure how the prospects will pan out. Good to see that you guys think the window goes past 2015, I wasn’t sure how a new infield essentially would fare after 2015, as the current infield contracts are up, ie, SS and 2B, but those can be addressed in FA.
