BBB Fantasy League(s)

Questions for BBB fantasy leaguers and interested BBB members

Star-divide

This is for everyone

1) Are there open teams for the existing league?

2) If we form a new league or two. What are the rules/format?

I'd prefer a running total format than head to head only because setting daily lineups is a pain.

Trades?

What will we use? Counting stats or Sabr stuff

3) Who would be the Bud, um, commissioner?

4) Do we need a trophy for the best (and possibly the worst) team? As much as I like the names Shiva and Sacko, I don't think they would be used.

Id be interested to be in a league with fellow BBB members.

Same

I don’t think getting people for a new league would be hard, just finding someone who’s willing/able to organize it

by Aidin on Feb 7, 2012 4:35 PM EST up reply actions

There's a BBB keeper league that masterkembo runs

not sure if there are any openings. I’d be open for a new league though, preferably keeper, auction draft, and H2H, but I’m fine with roto.

ESPN has a nice auction draft format

I’m not sure if Yahoo does auctions or not

Yep

Yahoo started auction drafting last year. Was pretty fun, especially the options to go in and practice before your actual draft.

I want back in. Masterkembo, will you send email soon?

Need an easier division this year ;).

by Rhinos on Feb 8, 2012 5:21 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Yeah I will. I don’t think the Yahoo leagues are set up anyway.

by masterkembo on Feb 9, 2012 9:56 AM EST up reply actions

I’d love to start a keeper league if any of you guys are interested, it’d be more fun with people who are regulars here.

i’m definitely down to join a new league
i’d prefer rotisserie but head to heads good too
i’ve always done a regular draft but i’d be willing to try auction

never played fantasy baseball though, gonna have to learn fast

by STZ513 on Feb 7, 2012 7:03 PM EST reply actions

Yahoo has a very good auction format as well

Thats where i do most of my fantasy sports. I think we should do a 20 team league, but id be down for anything, id just want to be apart of it ;)

by boltspeedman on Feb 7, 2012 7:34 PM EST reply actions

Count me in.

I’d prefer a yahoo league if only because of the mobile app. I rarely use a computer at home, just my phone. I also prefer regular stats because I don’t understand metrics well enough.

If that does not continue / even if it does, I’m down for this league as well.

It will – I just need help running it this year…especially if people are still interested in the power ranking posts.

by masterkembo on Feb 9, 2012 9:57 AM EST up reply actions

dude

the power rankings were awesome.. Obviously it’s a lot of work on your end, but I really appreciated it. It’s good to have your team analyzed and see what your strengths/weaknesses are

by bryfryy on Feb 10, 2012 1:04 PM EST up reply actions

Yahoo is good and we can create private leagues. I believe they give the option of turning into a keeper league. CBS Sportsline Commish is really neat also, but you have to pay for it. You get what you pay for, with Yahoo being free. CBS gives you a lot of customization.

Fantasy Baseball is my crack. So I guess the first step would be, do we want to join a free league, or are we willing to pay money to have more features?

by FanInJapan on Feb 8, 2012 12:21 AM EST reply actions

Im down

You really cant go wrong with yahoo leagues, been using it for a few years and its always been my top site for fantasy sports. Id prefer a head 2 head league, but it really doesn’t matter to me

I will

So guys

Someone just announce they are making a league, post here ask for emails
Once one league fills up, someone start a new one. Someone just needs to actually start one to get the ball rolling

Also, rec this fanpost so it stays at the top for 2 weeks.

+1 is only good if you actually rec the post

Done

Question for you (or anyone else really, but you tend to be on the ball with this stuff): Is there any reason that I’m not seeing any of the Recent FanPosts on the sidebar? All I can see are the Rec’d ones.

You already have my email, so that will work. Haven’t done fantasy in 5 years, and I used to do it with far less informed people, so I have some trepidation about getting whopped, but should be fun

You can mail me through SBNation, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I won the first BBB fantasy league and reached the playoffs in last year’s edition, so if I continue the trend I’ll probably be a middling team this year. :p

Do you have a young, talented cost controlled player having a down year who's "attitude" has cased problems with an aging player or manager?

Don't worry, I Alex Anthopoulos will take him off your hands, I'll even give you some moderately useful veterans that will "help you make a playoff run".

Nah, we gotta go head to head.

Just picture it… it is week 23, and Woodman663 and I are going head to head. The Jays are in Detroit, and while I have Cabrera in my lineup, Woody has got Fielder. On top of all the awesome bluebirdesk banter that would normally be in a game thread, there would be some extra little threads every game between the players facing off. Everytime Cabrera strikes out, Woodman would let me have it, and everytime Fielder failed, I would be all up in his grill.

We gotta go head to head!

by Rugged Rock on Feb 8, 2012 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

Head to head is more compelling

But roto is better for establishing you put together the best team. The last league I was in with head-to-head, I won the regular season by getting really lucky in H2H matchups, since when I aggregated the stats to settle an argument I was actually middle of the pack

I prefer H2H, but Roto would be fine with me because I haven’t tried that yet.
I’d also prefer regular draft over auction draft, and live draft.

Room for only one more person

Once we’re at 20, we’ll migrate to a new FanPost (I tried using a FanShot, but it apparently doesn’t allow any formatting of any sort (even line breaks)) to a) vote on rules officially, and b) get out of everyone else’s way.
