Love it

Law is no fanboy and is quite critical of prospects. If he likes these five this much, there’s a good reason for it.

Also, in his chat, he mentions Nestor Molina and said that he is likely a 4/5 starter or reliever. He notes Molina’s lack of a breaking pitch and good control but not so great command.

Law's words, not mine

I think command refers to how well you can throw any pitch at any time. Molina isn’t great with his breaking ball so his command suffers. Control is pinpointing your pitches. I think that’s what he means.

As I understand it

Control – the ability to throw strikes
Command – the ability to throw the ball where you want to (so placing it within the strike zone, throwing quality strikes or even putting a chase pitch where you want)

yup

that’s how I’ve always interpreted it and I believe that’s how they are most commonly used

It would be good

To update our definitions (eg snakeface) and add these two to the list.

hmm, very interesting

that he likes Sanchez so much. kind of surprising that Norris isn’t on his top-10 list, but no really huge surprises. great to read his reviews of the top-5 too.

He noted Norris' inconsistent velocity in knocking him down

He really likes Sanchez because of his secondary pitches. Syndergaard didn’t do as well as Sanchez because of the secondary pitches even though Syndergaard has a good fastball and control.

Sanchez has a huge ceiling

Prototypical RHP build, and as noted, potentially high quality secondaries. He really needs to work on controlling/commanding them, but that’s often a feel and experience thing. Listening to some of the games last year, it would just desert him at times…he’d be motoring along, and then just suddenly ball, ball, ball…
