Jamie Moyer had his second start for the 51's, last night. It didn't go all that well, the 51's lost 7-3 to Reno.
Moyer went 6.0, giving up 10 hits, 7 earned, 2 walks, 3 k, 1 home run. He threw 107 pitches, likely too many for a man of his age. Reno scored 3 runs in his last inning. They also scored 4 runs in the 5th inning against him. Two of the hits, in that inning, should have been caught, so you could take a couple of earned runs off that total. Even with that, it isn't a good start by any means. I'm sure the Jays had people there watching, they might have a different opinion. We will find out what they think in the next couple of days.
In Moyer's 2 start he pitched 11 innings, gave up 17 hits, 10 earned, 2 homers, 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. I don't know, I'd rather see Chad Jenkins get the call than Moyer.
Other 51's of note:
- Travis Snider: 1 for 4, home run, k. .325/.405/.564. He's been in a bit of a slump, that's his first home run in his past 10 games. Last 10 games: .268/.333/.366.
- Anthony Gose: 1 for 5, double, he was picked off second, 3 k. .293/.373/.422. Last 10 games: .256/.333/.302, 2 steals, 2 times caught.
- Adeiny Hechavarria: 1 for 4, triple, 1 k. .314/.361/.449. Last 10: .186/.271/.372.
- David Cooper: 0 for 3, k. .283/.362/.484. Last 10: .206/.348/.441.
- Yan Gomes: 1 for 4. .351/.393/.591. Last 10: .306/.366/.566.
- Eric Thames: 1 for 3, walk. .319/.403/.478. Last 10: .385/.442/.564.
