I am really looking forward to seeing Jose Reyes play.
I think he'll enjoy the turf at Rogers Centre, at least on offense. His speed should play well. It is a good field for triples and he is generally near the top of the league in that stat. It is a good park for stolen bases. He should be a good fit. Defensively? I guess we'll see.
Bill James figures him to hit .295/.352/.434, with 11 home run, 96 runs score, 56 RBI and 39 stolen bases in 151 games. That looks pretty good to me. I'm hoping he gets rested a bit in Toronto, a DH game each home stand or something. I hate to see the hard surface cause troubles for his legs.
I'll guess .295/.360/.460 with 15 home runs, 15 triples, 105 runs and 55 stolen bases.
What's the team record for runs scored in a season? Oh, right, I'm on the internet, I can look these things up. Shawn Green, 134 in 1999. Green hit 42 home runs, so he has a bit of an advantage on Reyes. Having Carlos Delgado hitting behind him didn't hurt either. But then Reyes will have Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion hitting behind him. I guessed 105 runs, but I'm hoping for more.
