Stop me if you've heard this one: we should have won this game.
R.A. Dickey was very good, minus 2 home runs, one a Yankees Stadium special and one just that Lyle Overbay was looking to hit one out and did. I don't know how, but Lyle seemed to be planning on a home run. RA allowed 4 hits, 1 walk with 4 strikeouts, but the long ball cost him.
On offense, we did just enough to lose again. 8 hits, 1 walk, 12 strikeouts. Everyone in the lineup had 1 hit except Henry Blanco. We just didn't score enough of the baserunners. There were some good at bats, we had many long at bats against Phil Hughes, but they didn't work out. And then we couldn't hit Boone Logan, David Robertson and Mariano Rivera out of the Yankees bullpen.
If the double by Maicer Izturis went a few feet more or if Adam Lind had scored on that double, it would have been better.
On the good side, we had some great defense. I like watching Brett Lawrie and Munenora Kawasaki play defense. I love watching Dickey pitch.
Jays of the Day: Adam Lind had the number, .106 WPA, but he had to score on Maicer Izturis's double, so I'm not giving it to him.
Suckage: Edwin (-.127) and Blanco (-.114). Dickey had the number too, -.130, but I can't give him a suckage for that.
Tomorrow is an off-day. Yay,.
Another good game thread, 41 of us posted 856 comments. My first 'win' of the season, even with a throbbing headache I gut one out, but now I'm off to bed.
