No surprise, but the Blue Jays have given Todd Redmond the DFA treatment and Matt Boyd gets optioned to the minors. The team hasn't announced the corresponding move.
Redmond threw a scoreless inning tonight, and he threw 3.1 scoreless Tuesday, but his ERA is still 7.31 and he won't be available to pitch again for a couple of days, so the Jays could use his roster spot for someone that could pitch in Detroit. I hope Todd isn't picked up off waivers and stays in the organization.
Boyd has made two starts, totaling 6.1 innings, all in his first start, since he didn't get an out tonight. He's allowed 5 home runs, 15 hits and 11 earned runs. Today didn't go well, but I think he's better than he's looked or, hopefully, he'll be better the next time we see him in Toronto.
Jeff Francis, Greg Burke, Rob Rasmussen and Gregory Infante all pitched tonight in Buffalo so that pretty much eliminates them from consideration for the call to Toronto. Dan Norris started and Chad Jenkins pitched 2 innings yesterday. I'd guess Ryan Tepera would be one of the call ups. I'm not sure who the other would be. Miguel Castro?
