Best Jay Polls

What is the Blue Jays Biggest Surprise of the New Season?

I'm sorry that I've been MIA lately, my dad had pretty major surgery a couple of weeks ago. So I've been up to see him a fair bit of the last 2 weeks. The good news is that we took him home Monday and he, once again, looks far healthier than a man his age should look. All is good.

Anyway, I thought I'd ask you all what you think is the biggest surprise out of our Jays, so far this year? I'll chime in with a few possibilities after the jump:

Can't really call it a weekly poll since it's been a month or so, but the Best Jay Closer poll has been closed for a while and Tom Henke won. So the last of the Best Jay player polls is Best Jay Middle Reliever. So choose from the list of setup or middle relievers, we have had a few really good ones.

Weekly Poll

Doc won the Starting Pitcher Poll easily. There were some votes for Dave Stieb and a few for Clemens. I thought Jimmy Key and Pat Hentgen would get some votes. This time it is closers, who was the best closer in team history.

Weekly Poll

No surprise, Joe Carter won the right fielder poll, though Jesse Barfield kept it close. I figured Shawn Green would have had a few more votes but he came in 3rd. I would be interested in talking to the people that gave Bob Bailor and Raul Mondesi 1 vote each.

Anyway, on to the DHs, we haven't had anyone DH for a long stretch for the Jays, not many have held the job for more than a couple of years, but there are a few good names on the list. As always, you are welcome to campaign for your favorite player, but no calling the front runner a socialist or a Muslim just to try to bring him back to the pack.  Aren't you glad the American election will be over with by this time next week?

Weekly Poll

Devon White won the Center Fielder poll. There were only 2 better choices on the ballot, but it does explain a lot about our political process. I love the vote for Mookie Wilson, he was a fun guy to have on the team. He wasn't a great player for the Jays but you had to like him.

This week it is right fielders and we've had a number of good ones. To me it should be the closest vote so far, I could see any of 4 guys winning it.

Weekly Poll

George Bell won the left fielder poll, no surprise. You have to love the vote for Candy Maldonado. We need some older Jay fans, Al Woods and Barry Bonnell didn't get a vote but Frank Catalanotto gets 2 and Reed Johnson gets 5? It makes you think Shannon Stewart ruined his reputation in Toronto by coming back this season when he gets less votes than Reed.

Anyway, time for the Center Fielders. Some great names on this list, but then Mookie Wilson would be a great name on any list. How does one get a name like Mookie? I think there are 4 or 5 guys that deserve votes this time round. Should be interesting.

Weekly Poll

Tony Fernandez was the clear winner in the SS poll, I'll admit I was surprised that there is a Manny Lee fan out there. I had thought Alfredo Griffin might get a few votes. This week we look at the third basemen and I am expecting a much closer vote, spread among a lot more players. Anyway make you pick and if you pick 'someone else' let us know who and why.
