Despite the oustings of most pre-tournament favourites, the WBC is widely considered a success. I've made sure to watch a game every now and then, including last Thursday's between Japan and Korea. It was an absolute joy to watch, as the intensity level -- both the players' and the fans' -- was as high as I'd ever seen. It was evident that this wasn't simply another game; they have a deep-seated rivalry, plain and simple. That is why I highly recommend watching tonight's contest, regardless of whether you have a rooting interest. I only hope it turns out to be half as compelling as the last time they squared off.
