Game 66 of 162: Orioles at Blue Jays

Daniel Cabrera (4-2, 3.95) vs. Ted Lilly (5-7, 4.17). 12:37 PM ET start.

Early game today, which is currently in the top of the 6th inning. It's turned into quite a pitchers' duel. Cabrera and Lilly are two of the more inconsistent pitchers in the game. That's mainly a result of their combination of poor control and great stuff. Well, they're both pitching great tonight, combining for 12 strikeouts. However, despite allowing the only run of the game, Cabrera appears to be pitching better. He's given up one walk, while Lilly's given up four. If Lilly would like to help reduce the strain exhorted on the Blue Jays' bullpen, he must limit the amount of pitches he throws. Through 5.2 innings, he's thrown 101 pitches. In other words, he probably won't last much longer, and the bullpen, still aching from last night's workload, will have to finish the job. His high strikeout rate is a great sign, since it normally correlates with good production, but his achilles heel has been his walk total.
