A.J. Burnett (2-4, 4.53) vs. Jaret Wright (6-6, 4.73). 7:05 PM ET start.
Well, J.P. Ricciardi, who has yet to decide whether the Blue Jays are contenders or pretenders, decide to make zero moves on deadline day. That's right, nothing, nada, zilch. I hate to admit it, but it seems like he missed a real opportunity to trade away potential free agents such as Ted Lilly and Justin Speier for prospects who would have bolstered a farm system that needs bolstering. The Blue Jays have been foundering for the past month or so. Consider their record since July 1 relative to other AL contenders' records:
Team W-L PCT
Twins 17-8 .680
Yankees 16-8 .667
Tigers 15-9 .625
Red Sox 14-12 .538
Blue Jays 11-14 .440
White Sox 9-15 .375
At least they've outplayed the White Sox.
