Troy Glaus departed yesterday's game after two innings. Running out a double play, it was clear that Troy was hobbling. Apparently it is the same left heel that has been bothering him recently. Troy will sit out tonight and will have his heel examined. Worst case scenario I have heard: Troy needs surgery and is out for a month or so. Would we see a Smith/McDonald platoon or would Hattig or Ryan Roberts be called up if that were to happen?
Reed Johnson was a late scratch yesterday because of the same back problems that bothered him throughout the spring. Reed's condition was described by JG as "couple of days-to-day", whatever that means, but, as of today, Blair reports that Reed will be placed on the 15-day DL and Adam Lind will be recalled.
Perhaps most ominously, Brandon League was put on the 15-day DL for the major league team. This is the only fair thing to do, League was hurt when with the big team and should be collecting major league salary and accruing service time, but it suggests that he is nowhere close to returning. The whole League thing is very mysterious and troubling - we still haven't really heard what is wrong here. Right now it's not hurting the team, with Jason Frasor performing admirably in League's expected role, and the rest of the bullpen doing great as well, but if the Jays have to move Janssen and/or Zambrano and/or Marcum into the rotation, it may become an issue later on, especially now that Rosario is gone.
Feel better soon, Troy, Reed, and Brandon, and welcome to the bigs again, Adam...in boca al lupo! Source: all from today's Globe and Mail
