Fake Empires -- 6/15 Game Thread: Washington Nationals at Toronto Blue Jays

Friday, June 15, 2007 -- Toronto, Ontario

7:07 pm EST

Washington Nationals:

 Mike Bacsik, LHP, 1-3, 4.34 ERA, 29 IP, 9/8 K/BB

           v.

Toronto Blue Jays:

 Roy Halladay, RHP, 6-2, 4.56 ERA, 75 IP, 48/13 K/BB

After an "eh" .500 left-coast road trip, our beloved Corvidae return to TO to face my town's team, the Washington Nationals. Incidentally, if you haven't heard The National (the band, not the baseball squad) and their new record, The Boxer you really should. It is really something - somehow reassuring and haunting at the same time. They've surprised fans by getting away from their more rocking alt-country sort of stuff on their first few ablums, and people are really digging it. They just played Toronto, in fact, and the town swooned.

The Washington Nationals, on the other hand, have surprised fans by not being nearly as terrible as everyone expected them to be. However, with their weak offense and ragtag pitching staff, the Jays have to be thinking sweep. Il Dottore will try to get them off on the right foot after a promising start his last time out.

I'm going to miss the announcing of lineups and perhaps the first inning of so of the game so I'm getting the post up early, but I'll be around watching the game, so let's go Jays!
