Sorry guys (for those who follow the minor league stuff) as I wasn't home for most of the weekend and I'll just give a quick summary of each game.
I also have a quick poll included as I want to know what people think of New Zealander Scott Campbell who is hitting leadoff for Lansing. He doesn't have much power but walks a lot, and doesn't strike out. Being able to play 2B may help as he can be a quality utility player. It's still early but hey a poll can't hurt.
Saturday July 14
Pawtucket 6, Syracuse 5
Lind was 1 for 4 with a double, Adams was 2 for 4. Ray Olmedo gets the JotG going 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBIs.
Trenton 6, New Hampshire 2
The FCats ran into another top Yankees pitching prospect this time in Joba Chamberlain. No FCat had more then 1 hit, and Chamberlain pitched 7 innings giving up just 3 hits while striking out 9.
Dunedin 9, Vero Beach 7
Eric Nielsen was 2-4 with 2 doubles. Jacob Butler 2 for 4 with 3 RBI to get the JotG. Josh Kreuzer was also 1-3 with 2 walks.
Lansing 4, Wisconsin 3
Scott Campbell gets the JotG for going 2 for 4 with a home run and a double and 3 RBI. His two run shot in the bottom of the 8th proved to be the game winner. Can he be a future leadoff guy? He walks more then he strikeouts and is still 22 and arguably the 2nd best hitter in Lansing behind Snider. What do you guys think?
Auburn 10, Lowell 9
Manuel Rodriguez may get on the prospects list especially after his recent performance. He went 6 for 6 on the night adding 2 doubles. He easily gets the JotG. If only he could walk more, some people would be talking about him already as he increased his average to .352. Jonathan Arencibia (trying this name out) had a rough night going 1-6 with 3Ks. Leance Soto an international signing that disappointed went 4-6 with 4 singles.
GCL Jays 3, GCL Braves 1
Jimmy Dougher who I've talked about quite a bit continues to do well going 5 innings with 5Ks giving up just 1ER to get the JotG. Kevin Ahrens had a nice day at the plate going 2-4.
Sunday July 15
Pawtucker 8, Syracuse 2
Not really any special performances. Olmedo did have 2 hits. Adams was 1-4, Lind was 1-3 with a walk and Thigpen was 0-4.
New Hampshire 7, Trenton 5
Kyle Yates had a great start going 6 2/3 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts. He scattered 7 hits and 2 walks. Ryan Patterson was awesome going 3 for 5 including a home run. Rob Cosby was 2 for 5 with a home run as well as all three of these FCats get the JotG.
Dunedin 3, Brevard County 1 - 5 innings
Completed early due to rain. Robert Ray gets the JotG for pitching a complete game with 5Ks.
Lansing 6, Wisconsin 2
Travis Snider made his return after his 6-game suspension but went 0-3 with a walk. The Lugnuts only got 5 hits on the night but capitalized on walks. 21-year old Reidier Gonzalez pitched 4 innings with 6 Ks and 2 ER. Chris Reddout pitched 3 scoreless innings with 2Ks in relief to get the JotG.
Auburn/Lowell postponed due to rain.
