Every once in a while, we like to get away from obscure rock lyrics and drop a little literature. Today's title comes from "Chicago," a fantastic poem by Carl Sandburg.
Well, the Jays are riding high on their longest winning streak of the season. They will try to keep it going tonight as Sparrow faces off against Jon Garland. Sparrow has been quite good recently, going 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA over his last 5 starts.
In other news, the Jays optioned Gustavo Chacin to AAA today. I assume that Chacin's rehab period was up, so the Jays had no choice but to ethier option everyone's favorite cologne pitchman or summon him to T.O. Chacin has only made the one rehab appearance.
Finally, A.J. Burnett threw a simulated game today. This is the first time that A.J. has thrown since he was shut down before the all-star break, and only the second time he has thrown since June 12.
For all interested folks, don't miss our Trade Deadline Discussion 2 posts down. There's already been a good back-and-forth going in the comments. I, for one, have had an unbelievably long week, and I'm really looking forward to some good baseball. Let's go Jays!
