We've managed to keep up with Jays news and links this week, so there's not much point to doing a Sunday update and links. After yesterday's loss, the Jays are 7 games out of the wildcard, so there's not really any point in continuing to track that. The Jays would have to go on a big extended streak, and with the offense sputtering along, it just doesn't look like it has any chance of happening. When you're facing the Trashman at home and you get a perfectly good effort from your starting pitcher and bullpen and still can't win, you're not going anywhere, sad to say.

Anyway, Doc faces off against Jeremy Guthrie today. Doc looks to win his fourth straight and has typically fared well against the O's (14-4, 2.92 ERA). He was 3-0 against the O's last season. For his part, Guthrie was lights out earlier this season but has not had a good August, going 0-1 with a 9 ERA in his three starts. He has struggled away from home, so perhaps this is a good time to get the offense on track.

I put in a nice long run already this morning, the wife and baby are out, I finished all the work I have to do this weekend, and my fridge is freshly stocked with Labatt, so nothing stands between me and Sunday baseball. Let's go Jays!
