One More Time Without Emotion: Game 10, April 11, 2008 - Jays at Rangers

New, comments

Well after the debacle that was yesterday's loss and just an awful series against Oakland, the Jays leave Toronto and head down to Arlington, where they always seem to struggle, to take on the Texas Rangers in a 3-game series. Yesterday's game was just unbearable, with the Jays wasting a brilliant outing from Shaun Marcum. Marcum went 7 innings, striking out 8 and surrendering only 1 walk and 1 run. Unfortunately, the Jays could not push across runs, and Brandon League surrendered a bases loaded double in the top of the 12th and that was all she wrote.

Tonight, Jesse Litsch will face off against Vincente Padilla. What is there to say except that the Jays need a good series to get back on track. They looked so good against Boston, and so much like the 2007 Jays against Oakland.

In other Jays news, B.J. Ryan made his last rehab start at Dunedin and packed his bags for Syracuse. I'd expect to see him up with the Jays sometime next week, assuming all goes well. Armando Benitez also made the trip up to Syracuse and could also join the Jays. Meanwhile, Rule 5 pick Randy Wells was sent packing when the Jays called up lefty Jesse Carlson yesterday.

In injury news, Scott Rolen had successful surgery to remove the pin from his finger, and expects to be cleared to start hitting off a tee any day now. The Jays could definitely use Rolen back, as Marco Scutaro has showed both his abilities and his limitations in the everyday role.
