Today's title comes from "Rescue Blues," a Ryan Adams song off his second solo record, Gold. Not his best record (I like Heartbreaker, personally), but there are a couple of incredible songs on there.
Anyway, the Jays call on A.J. Burnett to rescue a series win from Boston. It won't be easy, as the Jays have to contend with Daisuke Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka has had an unbelievable season so far, going 15-2 with a 2.77 ERA, despite having only so-so peripheral stats (1.37 Whip and 109 K/77 BB over 126 innings). He's already walked 77 after walking only 80 last season in 80 more innings, and yet he's pitching much much better this season.
People seem to be thinking that Burnett is having one of those huge walk years, but he's actually having a pretty poor season by his lofty standards. He's just stayed healthy and has gotten very good run support (an average of 6.61 Runs/start, which is rather anomolous given the team's offensive shortcomings.
Anyway, it should be an interesting game, so stop by if you've got time. Let's go Jays!
