A little Sunny Day Real Estate for today's post. Not sure what it has to do with Baltimore, other than I had a friend make a very convincing argument at a great Irish pub in Baltimore that Sunny Day Real Estate was the great band of the 90s.
The outcome of the Jays season, in terms of when it will end, is all but decided, but there are still 12 games left to play and I would like to see a few things. First, and starting today, I'd like to see Shaun Marcum continue to demonstrate that he's got the stuff to be a great major-league pitcher. Second, I'd like to see Jesse Litsch continue to give the Jays quality innings in a starting role and make his case for having a rotation spot to lose. Third, I'd like to see David Purcey show that he can throw strikes with some consistency. Fourth, I'd like to see Scott Rolen hit a few gappers and play the field well. Fifth, I'd like to see Curtis Thigpen get some at-bats and starts behind the plate, to see whether he can handle the backup catcher job so we don't have to sign someone else. Sixth, I'd like to see Scott Downs get a few more days off now that the Jays are out of it.
I'll be running first to enjoy the beautiful weather, but should be back for the first pitch. Let's go Jays!
