Jays 10 Marlins 4
Not a great start for Jesse Litsch in his last tune up before the season. He only went 4.2 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 walks, 3 runs, 2 earned, 1 homer and 4 strikeouts. The bullpen on the other hand did a great job, Brandon League was perfect for an inning and third with 2 strikeouts, Scott Downs and BJ Ryan each pitched a scoreless inning, striking out 1 each. BJ walked 1. That makes a couple of good appearances in a row for BJ, maybe he's worked things out. Minor leaguer Adrian Martin finished the game giving up a run on 3 hits.
Offensively maybe things are coming around too, Aaron Hill, Alex Rios and Scott Rolen each homered. That second homer in two days for both Hill and Rios. Nice to see them getting hot just as the season is about to get under way. Rolen was 3 for 4 today with 4 RBI, he is hitting .417 this spring. Vernon Wells was 2 for 3 and Jose Bautista was 2 for 2. Marco Scutaro, Adam Lind, Rod Barajas and minor league catcher Matthew Liuzza each had a hit.
Notable ofers; Lyle Overbay was 0 for 3 with a strikeout, he's hitting .167 this spring, Kevin Millar was 0 for 2 and is hitting a big .186 this spring. Why is he on the team again? Travis Snider was also 0 for 3, bringing his average down to a healthy .400.
Nice to see the offense coming around, but I am worried about Overbay and Barajas. I hope Lyle starts putting it together soon and I hope Cito gives Michael Barrett a good share of the time behind the plate.
Tomorrow morning the Jays/Marlin game is on TSN with a early starting time of noon Eastern. Ricky Romero is to start for the Jays and I'm happy that we will get a chance to watch him pitch. Brian Tallet, Shawn Camp, Cy Carlson and Jason Frasor are also to pitch.
So if you get a chance to watch the game tomorrow join us in the game thread, presuming I wake up early enough
