Three Peas in a Pod: Game Preview and Thread, Game 29 - Baltimore at Jays

Today's title, from a song by the band Lullaby for the Working Class, seemed appropriate given that the Jays are going for the three-game sweep today. They've already won the series, but it is the Orioles and it's at home, so it'd be nice to complete the sweep and get off to a great start in May.

First, a little injury news; Ricky Romero threw 45 pitches yesterday and felt good. The plan is for him to throw one more bullpen session and then head out on a minor-league rehab. As was pointed out by ger in the game thread yesterday, Casey Janssen had another very encouraging start yesterday for Dunedin - He threw 4 innings, didn't yield a hit (or a run), struck out 3, and walked 1. He also induced 6 groundouts to 3 outs in the air. He's ready for New Hampshire, and if all goes well there, to join the Jays sometime in the second week of May. Oh, and David Purcey makes his first start today for the 51s.

Now for today's game: Scott Richmond will pitch for the Jays, while Jeremy Guthrie goes for Baltimore. You can read more about Guthrie in this great Jessef post. Richmond has done a great job this season thusfar and will be looking to build on that.

One Jay who will be looking for a hit is Travis Snider. Snider's overall numbers aren't too bad, but since the series in Minneapolis, which ended April 16th, he's hitting an egregiously bad .182/.234/.205. He's not striking out much, which means maybe he should be a little more selective at the plate.
