Nowadays it's letters to the editor and cheatin' on our taxes Is the best that we can do: Jays at Orioles

Another day, another game, more talking about JP Riccardi's future with the team. Hugo and I had that debate a month ago, here if you are interested. I know there is a subject that causes a lot of emotion for some reason, but if you start with he never did anything right, that's a tough thing to defend. Also folks, remember that just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean that they are dumb or are calling you dumb. Sometimes adults can disagree. Often even is someone says something I agree with I'll take the opposite side, because I want to draw out their argument. So you don't have to get upset if people disagree. It is funny, we have some that think all the teams troubles are JP's fault and some that say all the trouble is Cito's fault.

As well we are trying to create a community here, so if I or Hugo suggests 'try to be friendlier', that's the reason. We don't all have to agree, we do have to disagree reasonably. A warning is just that, a warning. Only you and Hugo I know about it. Take it like a suggestion, and ummmm take it like a grownup. If you are interested, there is a Guide to Commenting here.

The Jays start their last series before the All-Star break. We are without Cito Gaston tonight and tomorrow as he is off at his sister's funeral. Our condolences to him and his family.

Today's lineup:

Lineup

Toronto Blue Jays @ Baltimore Orioles

07/10/09 7:05 PM EDT

Toronto Blue Jays Baltimore Orioles
Marco Scutaro - SS Brian Roberts - 2B
Aaron Hill - 2B Adam Jones - CF
Adam Lind - DH Nick Markakis - RF
Scott Rolen - 3B Aubrey Huff - 1B
Vernon Wells - CF Nolan Reimold - LF
Lyle Overbay - 1B Luke Scott - DH
Alex Rios - RF Melvin Mora - 3B
David Dellucci - LF Matt Wieters - C
Raul Chavez - C Cesar Izturis - SS

We get to watch David Dellucci swing the bat again. I am hoping over the break Travis Snider or someone will be called up to take his place. Scott Rolen will be trying to extend his 25 game hit streak. He has been just terrific this season. Bob Elliot in the Toronto Sun says the Cincinnati Reds are interested in trading for him. I'm of two minds on this, I love watching Rolen play but I'm sure his trade value will never be higher than it is right now.

Tonight's pitchers are Brett Cecil (2-1, 6.23) for the Jays and Jason Berken (1-5, 6.25) for the Orioles, so we should see some runs tonight. For more on the Orioles starters this series Jessef has a great look at them.

Hugo's and Jessef are at the game in Baltimore today, lucky guys, but the rest of us can have fun in the Game Thread. A win streak would be a nice thing.

Oh the post title is from Steve Earle's song 'The Best We Can Do'.
