With Tom, Carm, wroth, and Temujin over at the game representing, it falls to me (not that it's an unusual task) to do the game thread for tonight's game. The Jays look to start their road trip off right after a homestand that could have been so much more than it was. Meanwhile, Doc is still a Jay.
Tonight features a nice matchup of two very fine young pitchers, though certainly the M's have the better of it on paper. Ricky Romero goes for the Jays while King Felix Hernandez, who I chose to be the first member of the
Hakodate Samurai Bears in a fun Craig in Calgary fanpost, goes for Seattle. Romero is coming off a couple of so-so outings so let's hope he can lock it down tonight. Hopefully no one will be enjoying free Shio Ramen tonight.
The Jays field pretty much the lineup we've come to expect, while the Mariners are setting forth a lineup that shouldn't make too many people nervous. Old friend Chris Woodward is playing second for the home team tonight, which is fun. Romero's problem recently has been twofold: walks (10 in his last two starts, ugh), and homeruns (4 home runs and 7 runs conceded on the long ball in his last 4 starts). Between the comfortable Safeco field and Seattle's lineup, tonight is a good chance for Romero to get back on track, if he can keep himself from walking batters.
Hope all our expeditioners are enjoying the evening, and let's go Jays! I figured I'd throw up the game thread a little early today in case anyone, like me, is waiting for the game to start. Today's title comes from a great song by Seattle's own Band of Horses.
