The Jays, sans-Alex Rios but coming off a little 3-game AL East winning streak, take on the Yankees tonight and try to make it four. Scott Richmond pitches for the Jays and looks to get back to the ways he displayed back before his injury, while Canadian whiskey enthusiast Joba Chamberlain "obviously plays" for the Yankees. Richmond had a rough time in the Big Smoke against the Yankees in his only start against them this season, so he'll be looking to bounce back at New Yankee Stadium (which, whenever I hear it, always makes me think it should be in the New New York of Futurama).
New guy Randy Ruiz, a native of the Bronx, makes his 2009 major-league debut tonight, taking designated hitter duties and sliding into Alex Rios' 6-spot in the lineup. I'd love to see something soon out of Edwin Encarnacion, who is hitting just .194/.188/.258 since joining the Jays and playing shaky defense. I know it's only been eight games, but still. Joe Inglett mans right field and it looks like it'll be an Inglett/Bautista platoon there until Travis Snider is called up.
Sticking with the New York theme this series, today's title comes from the neat song Brooklyn Stars by Matt Pond PA. They just don't write songs like that about the Bronx.
