Hi all, back from a relaxing long weekend away in the wilds of Shenandoah. Pretty country out there, and I sure could use the break. Anyway, Scott Downs is also back, having been activated from the disabled list. Edwin Encarnacion, however, is hitting the DL with a hamstring injury. Wonder if we see him again this season. Scott Campbell has had a nice time of it since returning from an injury (.327/.441/.408 in August, .274/.388/.400 in AA on the season), so I wonder if he couldn't see a callup to play some third base. AAA wasn't kind to him his first time around, but he had a nice spring with the Jays, has reportedly improved on defense as he has adjusted to third base, and has shown a good ability to get on base throughout his minor-league career. Not a hot prospect by any means, but could be an interesting bench option at the very least. As for Downs, he had a few shaky rehab outings, but pitched a clean inning for Dunedin on Saturday, striking out one.
Roy Halladay pitches tonight for the Jays, while Jeff Niemann goes for Tampa. Niemann is having a very nice season and Doc is Doc, so it should be a good one.
Today's title from "Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, since I needed more than one to find my way through the backcountry this weekend.
