Dirk Hayhurst to have Exploratory Shoulder Surgery

I got this press release today, I hadn't heard about any problem with Dirk's shoulder until now.

BLUE JAYS DIRK HAYHURST

SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have scheduled exploratory arthroscopic surgery for RHP DIRK HAYHURST to evaluate the status of his sore right shoulder.

HAYHURST, 28, injured his shoulder while preparing for 2010 season.  In 2009 the 6-2, 200 lb. right-hander appeared in 15 games for Toronto posting a 2.78 ERA without any decisions.  As a member of the Las Vegas 51’s of the Pacific Coast League (AAA) he posted a 4-6 record with a 3.75 ERA in 25 games, six of which were starts.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Schickendantz in Cleveland, Ohio.  His estimated return to action will not be available until following the surgery.

I hope it's nothing serious and he's back throwing and writing quick. His book is due out the end of March, he'll need that arm to sign copies. I wonder if they will find a kind of goofy looking giraffe type thing in his shoulder.
