It's here. HURRAY! Welcome home Jays. Welcome home.
I love opening day. It may be one of the only times this year to see the stadium somewhat filled. The atmosphere is always electric and the fans just seem great. Let's just hope we don't get a repeat of last years home opener where they had to announce that the Jays could forfeit if people didn't stop throwing things onto the field. Yep Drunk Jays Fans at their best... not necessarily these Drunk Jays Fans but certainly some of their Anonymous commentators.
I have never been to a home opener but I really wish I could have, I had a friend in University who posted pitches from opening day when he attended two years ago. He was front row 500 level in the outfield because those were the best seats he could get at the time. He didn't care though, it gave him chills just being in the building when the Jays took the field and the crowd went nuts.
I really hope Wells can hit one out again tonight, at the very least I hope he has a decent game because if the boo-birds come out on opening night I will be angry. I don't like booing players at the best of times but tonight should be nothing but cheers for our boys. They are off to a great start and deserve that building to be rocking.
Anyways, onto the game at hand. The Jays look to continue their hot start (5-1) by taking it to the White Sox (2-4). We have an interesting match up with the tall lefty Brian Tallet taking on Jake Peavy who missed all about half of last year.
I am not the biggest Brian Tallet supporter around here but I will not actively root against a player especially on opening night in Toronto. So Go Tallet Go! If he pitches the same this time out as he did in game 1 I will be happy. Although I could do without 4 runs (whether they are earned or not).
