On my way to Hamilton yesterday to pick up some relatives from the airport I was listening to the radio. On Primetime sports they were talking about the Jays which normally is not their strong suit. That being said they made a lot of good points about the attendance figures of the mid-week games against the White Sox. They mentioned that traditionally you could count on poor attendance figures in the month of April and September for Toronto. April because of the other things going on with Hockey and Basketball playoffs and September because well.... the Jays have usually been out of it by then. They did bring up that in the middle part of the season the Jays attendance has actually been decent. Not top of the league but usually better then median.

To me weekday games during times when school is on will draw poorly, especially during times when Hockey Playoffs are just kicking off. But the weekends will be better and come June, July and August when school is then out for the summer you will see better crowds to make up for early poor draws. Just remember even American baseball markets experience a major drop off from opening day to the midweek games that follow afterwards.

Onto Jays news Adam Lind, Vernon Wells and Alex Gonzalez continue to hit well and drive the Jays offense. I cannot wait for Hill to get back and give them another weapon in the lineup. There is that whole other issue of Overbay continuing to not hit he now has 3 hits (TOTAL) in 43 At Bats. You know who else has 3 hits? Halladay, and that guy has done it in 11 ABs. Yes that right Halladay is outhitting Overbay. I know its still early in the season but with Wallace tearing it up in the minors you have to wonder at what point AA will sit down and seriously start to give weight to the idea of cutting Overbay.

Tallet takes the mound today for the Jays against Saunders. Both of these guys have high ERAs and have been quite hittable over the past year so this one may be high scoring. 6 decent innings out of Tallet would be nice so everyone cross your fingers!
